handjobs for the holidays
i'm still your fag
anthems for a 17 year old
stars and sons
1. It's All Gonna Break
2. Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl
3. Lover's Spit
4. Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)
5. KC Accidental
Seriously, that's pretty much exactly right. Shoreline, Shampoo Suicide or Almost Crimes might get a look-in, but that's a solid 5.
#2 almost crimes
#3 pacific theme
#4 cause = time
#5 it's all gonna break
Ibi Dreams of Pavement
and then i was like "ahh yeah"
...to have a 'top 5' so, so many good tunes...
i think so.
couldnt think of many better this decade
Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl
It's All Gonna Break
my favourite BSS song. After that though they've got so many songs that could be the next four it's difficult to decide. Probably
Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)
Cause = Time
or Lover's Spit
fire eye'd boy
cause = time
lover's spit (any version)
is not in everybodys list here I find totally baffling.
search for kevin drew's 'cocaine skin'. it wasn't on his solo album but it is a fucking classic.
I have Spirit If... and that's as amazing as any BSS release.
#1) Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)
#2) It's All Gonna Break
#3) Stars and Sons
#4) Canada Vs. America
Man it's hard to limit to just 5 songs, there's so many other amazing songs just missing out. Canada Vs. America is criminally underrated along with Backyards
1. 7/4 - bestest pop song, ever.
2. anthems for a seventeen year old girl
3. guilty cubicles
4. stars and sons
5. it's all gonna' break
And, as always with favourite bands, this kind of list is hard. But, I suppose, in no specific order:
Anthems For A Seventeen-Year-Old Girl
Looks Just Like The Sun
Major Label Debut (Fast)
Argh. But I also love Ibi Dreams Of Pavement. And It's All Gonna Break. And Cause = Time. And All My Friends. And Fire Eye'd Boy. And and and...
Btw, why so little love for Looks Just Like The Sun? Although admittedly only when I heard them do it live did I realise how incredible it was (in the same way with Shampoo Suicide).
cranley's gonna make it
changes every day though, so many great songs.
Which VERSION you going for though punks? Let's see a bit more needlessly pedantic specifying on this board please!
but i personally prefer the arrangement of the kevin drew recording.
..seeed like a fuckin mess of a record, though adored You Forgot it In People, might need to give it another crack.
and now it's one of my favourite records of the decade. dig it out again, man
In no particular order (cop-out-tastic)
Stars and Sons
Lover's Spit (both versions, though slightly in favour of YFIIP version)
Late 90's Bedroom Rock... awesome instrumental! Love the bass and buzzsaw geetarzz
I'd say BSS.
Cause = Time
It's All Gonna Break
Gang Bang Suicide
and then I could list another dozen that I'd give 5/5 status. I wrote up Spirit If... and s/t as 9/10's for this here website. Yay!
Wasn't so keen on Brendan Canning's album last year though. Hope they come back for at least one more album at some point, though I wonder if it will ever happen
even PF's 8.2 seemed almost like they didn't like it. Weird. Was even Best New Music, right?
You know what? Brendan Canning's record is actually pretty damn good too. I was disappointed...just cos it wasn't completely Kevin Drew brill... but compare it to other indie pop rock, and you'll see SFAOU is better than most the shit I see getting top marks from critics.
