My favourite British post-hardcore record since Variations on Swing. Really tight, yet potent effort.
The Youves (used to be Mirror! Mirror!) ep is good as well.
Didn't realise it was out already. Should be ace. I've heard Aladdins Rave, it's class.
they're actually playing a free gig in boro tonight that i really should get my arse to.
but its a worthy effort.
You can certainly see where they got their influences from, Shellac, Drive Like Jehu and one of the songs sounds scarily like Hot Water Music.
Which song do you mean?
I think, well the start does anyway.
On another note, Giant Fucking Haystacks is amazing.
and the cover is almost identical to VOS and it's probably pretty pretty sweet
to find that !
There you go.
Unless of course you mean in real life, in which case, I cant help.
but my record shop might be able to get it...
yeah they should do, if you ask nicely.
it's in Paris, and they have difficulties getting import at the moment...
2 things I thought no-one ate.
like a topic bar - I've never heard of anyone buying a topic bar
and those mikados were fresh and finest.
Cheers for reminding me of them again, it genuinely is awesome stuff!
I love this band, my friend Ross has just joined them. They remind me of late 90s post-hardcorey stuff, really awesome.
May I also remark on how totally awesome Tupolev Ghost's mathy bits are. Sweeet.
Will be announcing a short June tour in the next few days so keep an eye on www.myspace.com/thetupolevghost for that
to Tupolev! Bloomin' marvellous!
the record is grrreat... but they're even better live.
shame the people of chelmsford didn't realise this the other week.
colchester thursday - woo!
I hear the singer has a love dungeon.
But I love the CD.
Will definitely get hold of this.
Which is awesome cos you can get Wintermute and Shapes and This Town Needs Guns and Copy Haho etc. etc.
Are the above mentioned bands half as good as TTG?
Shapes, yeah. Wintermute are really ace mathy, dancey indie stuff. Copy Haho released a really nice EP you should try. Nothing special, just some nice tunes and character.
Meet Me In St Louis, if you haven't heard them before, are probably the best band ever to have been on BSM. Tubelord and TTNG are joint second. Then Blakfish. That's what I thinks anyway.
there is a new song up on the myspace.
