Going to see them on Saturday.
The Easy Star All-Stars are a collective of some of the finest reggae musicians in New York. Combining musical versatility, instrumental prowess, beautiful vocal harmonies and a superb rhythm section, the Easy Star All-Stars have established themselves as one of the top international reggae acts since their live debut in 2003. The collective ethic of the band means that each member is able to bring their own inventiveness, musical expertise and sense of fun to make each performance something special. Far from being a novelty act, they're the real 'roots rock reggae' deal, following firmly in the age-old Jamaican tradition of creating versions. They've taken on albums by Radiohead and Pink Floyd, and next on the list are The Beatles. 'Easy Stars Lonely Hearts Dub Band' is set for release in April, and the band will play Belfast's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival on May 9th in support of it.
is quite a fun album
all i can hear in my head is dark side of the sun
im probably going to know them when i hear them.
in Birmingham, fantastic, venue was busy without being packed so had room to dance along, and the music really will get you moving, they played a few of there own songs and then a mix of tracks from lonely hearts dub band, radiodread and dub side of the moon. Getting to hear live dub ( they had a guy on a desk at the back of the room) was incredible, listened to lots of dub records lee perry, king tubby etc but hearing it done live was wicked.
Dave Gorman is doing some comedy thing during the day too for £4 but i have to go dress shopping. i had a whole day of fun planned.
was planning to buy tickets at the door (marquee flap) for this, as I didn't know exact numbers that were going, turns out it is now sold out though, dammit!
managed to get 4 tickets for this after all, woot!
you're from Belfast too i take it?
Gig was good, nice vibe around the place, enjoyed swaying to the reggae beats
never bothered with that
i didnt get to either.
the easystar allstars sounded amazing. heard a few video clips. heard it wasnt even packed out. even more ragin i didnt get a ticket.
went to bed about 2am and two mates jumped in ontop pf me to get me up to go partying. glad i did.
Yeah they probably could have had a few more punters in. I got 4 tickets after e-mailing them. Bar in the place was a bit of a joke though, had to queue for ages to get served. When waiting in line, the band started playing 'Money', ironically at this point I dropped all the pound coins in my hand, doing a dance or something, never to see them again.
Did you go partying then? I was dead to the world yesterday
