p.s. I love you still Skream!
she really needs to give up singin and just make and give her instrumental parts to people for remixing.
yeah he is livid!
Still fucking hate La Roux though.
skream's mix of that song is so definitively epic that i'm surprised ol' slugabed bovvered. On the subject of underwhelming dubstep, you heard caspa's album?
as there is so much hype about the skream mix. Its not gettin released or anything hes always doing cheeky bootlegs. Its not dubstep either its ummm hip-hop? I really cant stomach the Skream mix it got played 3 times in a row by the man himself at a night I was at and I was bored of it after the first.
I can't be doing with Caspa so no I wont be going near that one.
i was in a pretty euphoric place when i first heard the skream mix in a club, which might have coloured my judgement a bit!
"omg i LOVE this song" etc...
it sounds massssssive on the system I heard it on but everything does on the Irration Steppas soundsystem.
I was met by the worlds stupidest comment:
"wat is it with dubstep thers no real bass or shit it jus tfeels so slow and depressing "
I can get the slow part, but no bass... no bass...
some people need to get out to nights instead of listening to the pop remixes on mobile phones, its a whole other experiance compared to listening at home, even the chilled stuff sounds intense. Slows even kinda wrong its faster than house and alot of techno being 140bpm alot of the time, but yeah there is alot of halfstep around.
I always think of it as slow moving, but its actually quite fast.
its a pretty versatile tempo really you can make it sound slow or fast and still work in the dance.
i never like much above 140bmp so dubstep sound pretty quick to me
Its a slightly better remix, but those vocals seem to stand out more and they really do irritate me.
but then the vocals come in anddd FUCKKKK that's horrible! it seriously feels like some putting a knife in my ear, i actually flinched when they came in
sounds like they've been chipmonked up a lil bit donk style too, hehe
At the Rough Trade East Record store day and thought he was amazing. Although can't say I know fuck all about that sort of thing sounded pretty fucking good to me!
its the sheer amound of wobble that sounds the same even to fans of the wobbly stuff that kinda makes a hell of alot of caspa's stuff sound irritating. It all needs mixing up more then the wobblers will sound well good. this is still alright mind mostly for the crowd reaction when it gets dropped: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6lY6DnXsSM
and yeah that track is just a banger, cross-over-fit-many-a-set floorfiller.
Slugabed has at least made them sound a bit more retarded which fits nicely with the 'what the fuck is going on here' style beats. So yeah. Get rid of her horrible voice (and ridiculously scary face) and it'd be sick.
Benga's playing Ziggy's at the end of this month, will it be worth going to considering it's Ziggy's? I've no idea what it'll actually sound like in there and also it's gonna be rammed with absolute cunts.
Sorry to clog up the thread, as you were.
i know the promoters, they're pretty much the driving force behind the entire dubstep scene in york. they know their shit and it'll be a good night. benga will probably be fun i guess. ziggys sound system isn't that bad, not sure about the cunt situation but i can't imagine it'll be that bad
It probably won't be that full of cunts. I can imagine that its the Herbal Maffia lot mainly.
that may well be worth going to just to see how the hell dubstep holds up in ziggys, I've not been there since I was 18 at york college and going to nu metal nights.
Slugabed has loads of good stuff this was more an excuse for me to post his beats in a way that anyone would take notice.
Her face is a little scary now you mention it.
And yeah, think I'll just go to Benga, someone like that hitting York isn't gonna happen again anytime soon.
my sis is always bullying her boss at fibbers to get Skream to come and play though I think she is slowly wearing him down.
Still not sure how I'd react to a dubstep night, unless it was for example Kode9 with Spaceape because then I'd have an MC to connect with rather than just a soundsystem. Still, it's definitely something I need to experience.
the Sub Dub nights are so good, I've only been to a few but the soundsystem is fuckin HUGE! plus they always have MC's they do at most dubstep nights really. They have them most weeks at The Wire then big ones are at the west indian centre where they have a couple a month.
There is the odd one in york at lawrance street WMC maybe once a month with some big names in the scene playing. Herbal Mafia the d'n'b lot put on stuff at fibbers now and they some times get dubstep djs on too.
so I'll definitely check out what's going on there soon, I've been invited to some Herbal Mafia stuff before but mainly by ket-taking friends so I worry a bit about being the only person not on drugs there haha. But yeah, I've been meaning to check out the West Indian Centre nights for a while now.
they used to do uprooted, got tons of massive names down. considering its york, they did an amazing job
I've met them lot in passing before. They are always getting Silkie, Quest and Heny G down to York which is pretty awsome considering how big they are on the dubstep scene.
they got rusko (y'know he went to tadcaster grammar? haha), caspa, reso, benga, n type, ramadanman, headhunter + loads more, pretty big business for york
it was one of the last ones its was so good.
I had no idea rusko went to tad grama hahah
Signus one of the original Uprooted DJ's is now playing all the time in leeds at Exodus he is doing really well. Sick DJ as well.
though I wouldn't mind seeing him live
not the cheesey stuff like the Le Roux or Klaxons remixes mind, but he sure does know how to push the sound to people who don't know thats for sure.
My faves of his recently are:
Trapped In A Dark Bubble
The Shinein / Backwards
