Will they put as much effort into the songs as they do into the title? Only time will tell!
would be more state of the art
that's supose to be the name of the first single, seriously
Hope they've got over their 'Eagles' phase.
bit harsh, but Sky Blue Sky was ever so slightly dull, at least relative to what they're capable of sonically. I'm looking forward to hearing this one though...
was less dull than you think. Shake It Up? Walken? Come on!
At least it had some tunes on it after the disgrace that was A Ghost is Born!
Check out them playing Wilco (The Song) on The Colbert Report...it's on youtube and it rocks.
I think A Ghost Is Born was a great album, plenty of tunes, plenty of noise and experimentation and atmosphere, and some stunning guitar.
SBS was alright, don't get me wrong, but just nowhere near what they're capable of IMO. Songs like Impossible Germany and You Are My Face and the last song are pretty good but there's nothing mindblowing on it. I actually think Shake It Off is pretty much the worst song they've ever written.
But I can see why either one would appeal to some and not others.
A Ghost is Born is by far the superior album.
and seeing some bits of the new Live DVD the other night reminded me what a great live band they still are. Troxy ticket duly purchased - really hope the new one is not as much a dullsville as SBS.
only if you prefer noise over melody.
other than the >10 mins 'noise' of "less than you think", this doesn't really apply.
song near the beginning that goes on for about ten mins when they try and 'Neu!' it up? That is fucking shit.
The album version drags on a little, but the Kicking Television version, with the wonderful guitar noodling of Nels Cline, is bloody ace.
is defo there best album, because I say so.
