I'm not sure Juno should of put them up as no one else has but hell its pretty damn nice.
it sounds pretty much exactly how I'd expect a collab between Burial to sound. Excellent...
This sounds amazing. Have the pre-orders sold out already?
I haven't seen it available for pre-order on Boomkat yet, and I can't imagine they won't be getting some in.
and people on dubstepforum have said it isnt a really limited pressing so it shouldnt sell out to quick.
Boomkat will have loads I'd imagain at some point.
First one is pretty much Burial-by-numbers but it's good.
brilliant mind, I dont think burial does anything but Burial style music.
I'm strugeling to find to much Burial in the second track though, I will have to wait and see next week I guess if its a collaberation or a split.
and already erect. Jesus i forgot how good Burial is.
its been well over 20 mins and you were erect after 30 seconds so I hope you have whiped up by now
Both tracks... time to revisit Untrue and Rounds.
I thought. Can't wait to listen to the full record properly now
Got it on pre-order so looking forward to hearing the full thing though!
can't wait to hear it all, its so good to have Burial back!
Flying Lotus dropped a bit of Burial last night it was beautiful, mixed with Black Sun by Kode 9 and some Martyn.
both sound real good
gettin proper summery vibes from the second track which is definately a good thing with all this shitty weather
what with this and mount kimbie you are working your way up my list of most useful posters
I work on this blog: http://sonicrouter.blogspot.com/
with a mate we kinda spcialise in that kind of end of the bass music spectrum, check it out for more of the same if you like.
as does the first one to be honest, mister exploder great work again. will this be available to buy in record stores (i.e.resident in brighton?) i presume it will be I like buying things with my hands. whats the release date?
I've not been to a record shop in years, but I'd think it will reach shops as well as online its not excluise or anything.
Four Tet played the second track on the Domino Radio Show a couple of weeks back, I spent about 2 hours trying to work out what the track was (it was listed as 'unknown' on the playlist) but ended with nothing. So glad to have cleared that up, was thinking one of the best things I've heard in a while was going to remain unknown forever more. Tune.
It sounds like they've met half way and in the process diluted both their sounds.
The first one has very by numbers Burial drums with some identikit floaty bits from Four Tet. The 4x4 sounds a bit like a Kompakt ambient thingy. Only less good as I can't really hear Burial's input. Maybe he did the vocals.
this is very mediocre stuff imho. Just sounds like Four Tet with a few steppy beats.
More Burial solo work please
it doesn't sound that great :(
I don't take pleasure in pouring cold water of everyone's ethusiasm but the clips don't excite me at all. That said they're only 30 second clips of what are probably 5/6 minute tracks so i'll reserve judgement till i've heard the whole thing but the signs aren't promising.
I think that collaborations like this tend be dissapointing. The results always sound like a bit of each producer but not as good as either's solo work.
the amount of times I've heard a clip then got the acctual thing and it sounds a million times better has been... loads! I can't hear much burial in the second clip either I'm not sure any of it is him. I fuckin love the beats on the first though that skeletal shuffle gets me every time.
I'm egging on the side of not as good as solo burial but still fuckin lush. I'm a bit excited about gettin the 12" in the post.
Geiom - No More Tears / Eyl Booty
and this: Pinch - Attack Of the Giant Killer Robot Spiders / Teleportation
and this: Gemmy - Supligen / BT Tower
to much good stuff around!
gemmy less so
the giant spider track by pinch are fuckin insane! the flip is so good too, Pinch is usualy a bit special though.
I really like BT Towner thats a killer track, but Supligen is a little to much like the Punch Drunk release its still good but a bit samey. Saying that though it will be good in the mix if you chop it up between Bk 2 The Future. Its a bit like Joker with his Gully Brook Lane and Holly Brook Park one sounds like an extended break down of the other.
pinch track is fantastic. I just feel like Gemmy's the weak link out of him, Joker and Guido, those tracks feel a bit like lame versions of Joker tracks, not very good melodic sensibilities. the fuzz on them is kinda bad too.
speaking of joker, flying lotus told this story before he dropped re up (and good god did it sound good) about how he was meditating on the plane over with his mind clear, and all of a sudden re up came into his head. he said it was so good, he even gave it a rewind in his head, ahahaha
thats ace, he played that in leeds as well it sounds so good out like that.
Gemmy is alot rawer and not as mellodic yeah but I like that. He has some stuff that sounds like a seaga megadrive doing dancehall which I hope gets a release sometime. Oh and he is workin on an album for Planet Mu as well that might show more of his skills.
Wolf is so fucking lush it's unreal... Definitely a collaboration rather than a split 12".
I thought mine might arrive today but it looks like it wont until tuesday now with it being a back holiday and all that.
Having listened to the full tracks a few times my intitial misgivings have been confirmed.
Its just a bit plain and predictable sounding really, the tracks aren't really bad but i wouldn't describe them as anything more than pleasant.
...this morning as they just came thruogh my door. They haven't blown me away yet either but its early days yet. I'll rinse them propper later today. Hearing burial on a stright techno tip on this 12" sounds a bit wrong somehow though it looses the funk.
they are really lush and nice they take their time to build into anything but when they do there are some beautiful moments. Its either gona grow on me alot or get over shadowed by so much other amazing dubstep bass music around at the moment. I dunno, its well nice needs alot of spinns and late nights I think.
well done jimi
you just made my day :)
had no idea this was out, sounds INCREDIBLE. just the kind of thing that's taking my fancy at the moment... love it!
Its growing on me with each listen its a really subtle one. Kinda shiny and slick compared to otehr Burial stuff, which I guess Four Tet has a hand in, so it took a bit of getting use to. Its well lush though.
It's a really solid piece of work. Can't wait to play it @ the Invisible show at Cargo next week.
and a good listen, it will probibly grow on me more but I think I like Burial on his own better. I've never really been a Four Tet fan mind. It kind of shows a diffrent side to both artists which is nice.
Pitchfork has the two tracks in full:
Both sound really nice from my first listen.
I think this sounds absolutely gorgeous! I hope they do a digital release, as I don't have a record player :-(
burial is the only dubstep guy ive ever really got into. are they all as good as this?
Burial isn't really typical dubstep, alot more 2-step and garage based than a lot the other producers. He has a very unique and brilliant sound.
I really enjoy Boxcutter, Jamie Vex'd, Martyn, Distance, Shakleton, Appleblim, Zomby, Starkey and loads more but they all have a different sound thats often a lot more dancefloor orientated than burial
