You should all listen to it.
or do you just like talking about stuff you happen to have already heard?
Don't let him influence you.
any one of the singles off twenty one could knock the socks off most guitar pop music last year. i think its a perfectly acceptable position to hold, they're in a completely different sphere to these dudes who are pretty plodding and generic sounding. messy guitars, no hooks, no interesting instrumentation, uninspiring vocals, not enough thought to be artistic, not enough energy to be anything else
except with a completely uninterested vocalist.
also you like emmy the great, nah na-na-na nah
I deleted her from my list of influences. Even though she totes did influence one of my songs, but whatever.
or influenced me in any way. checkmate
there's a lot of mutually exclusive qualities you can take away from music. and to be honest, for the sake of the argument, mystery jets probably have more to add to the conversation of music than these guys, and they're arguably both completely backwards looking
and i think the same could be said for lots of things EVERYBODY likes, it was a general point rather than a personal one. i can't really see any angle which makes these guys good in any sense let alone in the realms of best of year
You are sooooo stupid. Don't know why they put 'Spin Away' on there though. 'Where Do We Go' ftw \m/
They don't have hooks *per se* but they still have awesome melodies. And I love the production. It's so... like... *thick*. And warm. And the chorus on the title track where it builds up and goes "dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun BOOOOOOOOOOOOSH DUN DUN DUN DUN BOOOOOOOOSH"... how can you not like that?
the songwriting's really bad, they seem to do a ton of that cliched MOR rock going back and forth on two chords. really does sound like snow patrol, u2, frightened rabbit et al except with lower production values. more forgetable than the grizzly bear record i think
It's better than The Hysterical Injury.
a nice sound and i like the vocals but theres not really a trace of a 'song' a lot of the time.
"There are people... there are people in, there are people in our heads." Yeah. Song!
