That's amazing. Granted, I don't have all their stuff... YET
How about you? Any bands that you like all their albums?
Colossus of Destiny yeh? okay.
its on ipecac and its live!
but then googled it and its described as 'avant-garde electro-acoustic'
oh well. one out of 23? thats pretty sweet.
but yes everything else is fantastic
is probably the worst one I've got. But that's not too bad either. I love all the cure stuff I've got but I've purposely avoided wild mood swings & all that mid 80s japanese whispers/the top stuff as I can't stand stuff like the lovecats. Although the caterpillar and mint car are both pretty decent tracks.
there was no bad mission of burma albums. In fact they are all fantastic :)
in different ways. i probably prefer Surfa Rosa over everything else but not by much.
pixies = 4 great albums
melvins = at least 15+ great albums
did i say melvins made loads of crap?
I at least enjoy every single Guided By Voices album, which is incredible with how many there are.
We are rabid, but we aren't that bad.
at least I havn't heard a Boris release i havn't liked yet.
granted i haven't got all of them yet, but i'm pretty much certain i wont be disappointed. Buzz can do no wrong.
i like his attitude
I saw them on the first uk tour with Big Business and they were opening with "Another 4th of July Ruined" he marched to the edge of the stage and did a military salute thing. It was cool
I'm tempted to say Sonic Youth but a naggingly truthful part of me makes me admit that NYC ghosts is the bad aids.
Erm... Radiohead? Pablo Honey isn't a bad album, it's just not AS GOOD.
I've not heard a Mogwai album I don't like, but several of the more recent ones I LIKE rather than LOVE.
but if you're talking about a band with a larger output, there's yet to be a Fall album that I'm not at least slightly fond of. The Beatles. Neil Young. Pavement too. Oh, and Beat Happening.
One great track (Crop-Dust) the rest is pretty ropey. I'll defend every other Fall album over a 30 year career though.
shit title, worse cover, most of the songs are phoned-in, but somehow it's still kinda fun. There's something about garage-rocky Fall stuff that keeps me entertained regardless of how sloppy and half-arsed it is.
you haven't heard "Prick" yet. That's terrible. "Colossus of Destiny" and "The Crybaby" aren't particularly great, either, but they both have their moments. All other Melvins albums are pretty amazing though, so I can forgive them those few blips.
Prick and The Crybaby and Hostile Ambient Takeove spring to mind.
Wasn't overly keen on Pigs of the Roman Empire though.
Fugazi, Mission of Burma and Husker Du. Holy trinity.
want to re-read 'our band could be your life'
who ARE you?
and yet you seem to be replying to every single comment on this thread; just seems a bit odd.
He's not claiming he know's them. Although he WAS in beat happening for a brief period.
but they were over productive. Too much stuff for it all to be great, it's not consistent at all.
But what to get next? I have the two most recent ones, Houdini, Stoner Witch, Stag and Bullhead.
I like the 7 Talking Heads album I've heard (only missing True Stories). And I'd like to say I like every Fall album I've heard, but Reformation is a bit shit.
Quality all the way, especially the self-titled one that some people slagged off for being too poppy. It's one of their best!
haha, i keed, i keed.
Low are the closest ones over five albums i guess.
I could Live in Hope
The Curtain Hits the Cast
THings we lost in the fire
Drums and Guns
And that's not counting 'songs for dead pilot', the box set or the Dirty 3 collab.
Yes Low have never done a bad album. They have done A LOT of great ones.
My brothers gf is a big fan and she made me a few mix cds and there was not even one track I liked. I think its his voice, it just grates.
...simply never made a bad album..me thinks.
in fact, i love everything that ben chasny has been involved with - comets on fire, august born, badgerlore .... he is unrivalled.
you can find much merit and interest in their supposedly bad albums. I do with these guys anyway. Prick ain't so bad, it has its moments. I like the solo albums but they are probably only of interest to the mad fan type people.
And Hostile Ambient Takeover is possibly the best album ah divvnt kna what yees are smokin
it's not one of my favourites, but it's still a solid album. And Joe Preston's solo album is brilliant.
I still think Prick sucks, though.
is self indulgent pish, but even that has got an awesome cover of Youth Of America on it.
That one's one of the best too. The first track is a horrible backwards composite of a load of old songs but nerds can have literally hours of fun working out which ones. And the actual reworkings are so good. The new Revolve with Dale playing the dancy drums and the whistling is great.
Prick is definitely the one that comes closest to being total self indulgent pish, but it has 'Larry' on it which is a definite winner
just got the senile animal 4 x LP. one of the best fucking things ever!
I'd not heard anything I didn't think was great, until I got his latest album Filth. (even that's growing on me)
NOFX - I loved every release up until Wolves in Wolves Clothing, which I liked. Haven't heard the new album yet, but I've not got my hopes up.
Although I like the 1st two (& era vulgaris) many times more than the others.
Also,Super Furry Animals and Smashing Pumpkins.
Yo La Tengo
Nick cave and the bad seeds
