I'm crap at keeping up with good new stuff. So who's worth turning up to see at the Camden Crawl? Ta.
Madness are playing around Camden during the day - not sure how to find out where their surprise gigs are taking place.
SO MUCH. three trapped tigers are also immense.
dananananakroyd. not new stuff, but y'know, good.
The Big Pink are worth seeing, as are The Joy Formidable.
Little Death are good in a straight ahead, old school indie way, too.
Older bands to try and see for me... Von Bondies and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Am I going to have to camp at the Roundhouse to see them (yyy's) then?
unlikely... i'm working tomorrow and looks like i'm elsewhere tonight plus i have not a ticket. sadface.
In one of my quieter moments I've produced an excel spreadsheet with this year's band list. I've been through and visited all the myspace pages and made a shortlist of bands that me and Uncle Dave might want to go and see. It's colour-coded and everything. this on it's own nominates me for an honorary nerdship.
This will be our 4th crawl and I'm pretty sure the list will be redundant come 8pm on Friday. The Yay's and maybe's are below...the no's...well...they know who they are!
Dinosaur Pile Up
Fight Like Apes
Kitty Daisy & Lewis
The Jim Jones Revue
The Joy Formidable
The Laurel Collective
The Von Bondies
An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump
Man Like Me
Marina And The Diamonds
Ou Est Le Swimming Pool
Pulled Apart By Horses
The Big Pink
The Chapman Family
The Cordelier Club
The Temper Trap
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Did you you use a traffic light colour coding system?
And i got it laminated at work too.
Is yours wallet sized?
I think it was red for no, green for yes and ...blue for maybe...although that might change.
They're good. Even if it does mean going to the Hawley Arms on a Friday night. Eeeuuurrrgh! Maybe just go in, see them, then run away from that place, yeah?
I'll probably need a bag. Unless i fold it cunningly like a travel map.
It was ace last year.
Can you see bands for the 14+ event with a normal ticket as well? Or is it basically a different festival/ticket?
More to the point, I have a normal camden crawl ticket, will I get to see Dananananananakroyd?
A functional one and one with colours and venues on. I have one laminated one and six spares for my friends.
I will probably end up seeing
The Champman Family
Mumford and Sons
The Big Pink
but likely won't.
P.S. http://camden.crawl09.qpbrand.mobi/page/1235 Set times and locations.
but i have to make a new spreadsheet now...whenever will my proper work get done?
I bought a friend's ticket who can't make it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have gone at all. For some reason I thought Wire were playing on Sat but now it looks like the only definite on the Sat list of bands for me is The Fall, and even with that I'm not sure I really need to see them again. So will probably keep an open mind and/or go to where the queues aren't too bad!
should try see The X, Big Pink, Copy Haho and Everything Everything.
'Special wristbands required for admission ' at the roundhouse are?
is it ok to take a small digital camera along, any thoughts? any reports from yesterday, how were the queues, did anyone see Wire (grrrrr... i wanted to see them and thought they'd play today...) ??
As for wristbands for the Roundhouse you can pick them up from the MTV Courtyard in Hawley Crescent, according to the CC website
and they were very good and very angry. Great extended bombastic version of 'Reuters'.
Bottles of water...not so much.
Big pink started well but disappeared into Mary chain middle period.
Dinosaur pile-up - quite good grunge stuff but might need to improve the song-writing
Alessis's Ark - Kooky folk which we enjoyed..even if some of the audience talked loudly throughout.
The computers - great sound and presence but shame about the screaming
Fight like apes - brilliant!
Dissapointing that the joy formidable and mumford and sons both cancelled!
Playing 100 Broken Windows was fucking brilliant!
