Whaddya reackon to it, I think tis pretty good, especially the first two or three tracks...
it's rubbish disco that goes on forever.
i love it. tom our webmaster is obsessed with it. have only heard people saying good things about it. this thread is the first negativity i've read about it?! am muchos confused.
I was almost interested I liked bits of the last album this doesnt sound like my thing now tho
i wouldn't have imagined them being your thing at all. i often find threads like this are full of curious but disappointed people who download the leaks to have an opinion, even if it isn't ultimately their type of music (where once the barrier of buying something would have meant only those who invested would have an opinion, when most people wouldn't have bought something they might not have liked... or they might have read a bit about it before hearing it and/or forming their opinion)
I like my random indie pop dancey gubbins every now and again it breaks up the dark beats sometimes.
I read that they were scheduled to release a new album soon and that 'Help I'm Alive' was the first single, so I went to their MySpace to see if I could hear it there. I went their with the eager hopes and dreams that they delivered a wonderful new single. It turned out that the band had put the whole album up for anyone to listen to. I clicked with excitement, my eagerness and hopes now magnified from single to album. What I heard disappointed me a lot - I just didn't like it. The only song I liked off it was 'Stadium Love'. This made me quite sad, because I'm a pretty big fan of Emily's, if I may say so myself.
So what opinion am I supposed to have?
I like BSS
I liked some of Metric's old stuff.
But this is awful. AWFUL. I give everything I listen to a fair chance, and if anything, I wanted to like this album more because I saw and met the band and they were ace. But this is boring dross. Can't be swayed on that.
certainly not as impressive as Live It Out but it's a solid 6 0r 7 out of ten.
'Gold Guns Girls' is the only track I can get into. The rest is completely devoid of any charisma or soul. Such a let down since I really liked 'Live It Out'.
it's not quite as good as i hoped but there's a couple of really good tracks on there.
And am a little perplexed at all the negativity. I prefer it to the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs. A lot of very catchy songs.
really sorry about being negative, as I quite like the idea of Metric as a band. but i sat trough the whole album three times and it's really poor from every angle and it's a few galaxies away from It's Blitz.
It's not even what it TRIES to be or not. It's just not good at all.
metric were a fairly generic session-pop band with a distinctive singer.
if it wasn't for 'anthems' then i probably would never have given 'live it out' a fair chance, some decent tracks on that but on the whole i never really warmed to them properly.
then again i thought her solo album was REALLY boring. why couldn't everyone just focus on BSS? much as i loved Feist's latest record, the success that she got from it made me a bit sad too.
