1. Daft Punk - One More Time
2. Juan Maclean - Happy House
3. Jurgen Paape - So Wiet Wie Noch Nie
how could anyone possibly suggest anything other than these three?
Daft Punk - Aerodynamite
Alan Braxe & Fred Falke - Intro
Bushwacka! - Chorus (even if the flip Zebidee is my fave its not very housey)
Green Velvet - La La Land needs a mention as well because I always got asked to play that one more than once every time I played at party and stuff at the time.
I think its called Running.
Thomas Bangalter - Together is either really fucking brilliant and uplfiting or fucking annoying its hard to tell.
my brother - "well thats a fucking obnoxious song"
me - :(
in the looped out hold your hands in the air house kinda way like Together. They do sound a bit annoying on there own but in a set its like a sugar rush of pure cheese and joy!
Fucking incredible song. Actually, that album they put out with bits of everything they'd touched didn't have a duff moment on it.
There's another wonderful song that I have somewhere in the back of my mind that I can't remember right now. Basically I vote for anything played at Elemental in Lancaster in 2002.
those kick drums sound fuckin huge!
Because that was immense. As was 'NY Excuse' by Soulwax.
similarly, does Losing My Edge count?
I reckon it probibly does count as some kind of house music.
By The Time I Get To Venus by The Juan Maclean is probibly my fave DFA track, but I'm not sure its house its kinda electroy.
Le Tigre - Decepticon (DFA Remix) is awsome as well and kinda housey I guess.
loadsa DFA stuff is kinda on the edge of house and other stuff.
No idea why everyone bums it. Off the top of my head my top 3 of this decade would be:
1. Luomo - Vocalcity
2. Ricardo Villalobos - Ascho EP
3. Moodymann - Blach Mahogani
and that bassline
if Villalobos is counting as house then I'm well up for my personal fave of his What You Say Is More Than I Can Say.
Aside from his kinship with Hawtin its always puzzled me how he gets lumped in with the MNMl lot. There's so much more warmth, soul and intricasy to his grooves than the dry pulse of techno, which to me is the essence of House (pounding kick drum and awesome jacking tracks aside).
he has a more organic flow and isn't that sparse either. He's just Villalobos at the end of the day aint he doing his thing no one really does stuff like him. I guess its simular to how people like Burial and Shackleton get lumped in with the dubstep lot even though they sound very diffrent indeed they just come from simular places and exist at the same time.
Stardust, Music Sounds Better With You?
I'll always have a soft spot for Sing it Back too.
I still freakin hear it on the radio even if it is that vocal version.
Scorchio brought back some memmories I wasnt really keen on it tho. It did remind me of Tim Deulux's Beacuse of me... or something like that anyway a big cheesey ibiza number with sax acction and vocals.
I love that tune!
I wonder if the Miami Music Conference is still going?
that conference is still going yep, I've not heard much of a big deal about it for years though.
or maybe not, i dunno. Would Boxcutter go down well there?
I suppose it doesn't make a great deal of difference, i can't see myself jetting over to Miami to listen to a load of house music. Which is a shame because i'd love to.
like loads of people wanting to make chart hits and stuff like after electric avenue went huge from it ages ago.
I've really not heard much about it since so I'm not to sure.
Electric Avenue as in Eddy Grant?! Haha, maybe it was inevitable.
Josh Guru Project - Infinity 2008
Feddev Le Grande - Put Your Hands For Detroit
Dr Jones - Aqua
Encore Un Fois - Sash
would probably be my favourite 'hands in the air like a muppet' moment actually of the last decade...
