Minus the bear but heavier and is really f**kin good!!!
Please : )
probably the most criminally under-rated band ever to come out of Glasgow. there's heavy bits, there's mathy bits and they do indeed rock and aye, they're really, really good...
but don't get 'Lover, The Lord Has Left Us', go for 'Tiger + The Duke' or 'The Ocean & The Sun'.
Botch. They have the Minus The Bear connection as well. We Are The Romans is an amazing album.
Fear Before The March Of Flames
FBtMoF though: yes, yes, yes!
and perhaps bear vs shark, stop it!!, and the first Mt. album
...haven't seen them live yet.
I made a thread about them the other day too.

i should add that i don't really know what minus the bear sound like.
although if you like minus the bear you probably have heard botch
Drive Like Jehu
These Arms Are Snakes
HORSE the band
Don Cabellero (not much heavier, but still good)
that was me, and i forgot Dillinger Escape Plan
Fugazi-esque punk mathy goodness :)
shouty multi-layered rock, in a similar vein to bands like Faraquet, June of 44 and Shellac. www.myspace.com/fordamage
I haven't checked out their latest EP but their last one 'Get Your Learn On' was amazing.
but is even better than the last one. True story
There's a couple of tracks up at www.myspace.com/weareshapes including a video
were once described as "minus the bear remembering their heavy as fuck past"
sweep the leg johnny
volta do mar
maps and atlases
bellini / uzeda
drive like jehu
hero of a hundred fights
san luis obispo
storm and stress / battles
from monument to masses
Noxagt and US Maple. Badass bands.
when is daughters new album out please?
the number twelve looks like you?
but from what I've heard (a couple on last.fm) they sound really good.
just quit didn't he? What's that all about?
Also Mutiny On The Bounty and Look Mexico are similar to Minus The Bear, both a little heavier too. But for a math band that are genuinely awesome, Faraquet take some beating.
takes the square?
