jeez. its more like those bands up there (particularly johnny foreigner) are terrible attempts at capturing that kind of energy and exuberance
I really can't see the fuss over them
you just think you don't
Dana are good.
Hooray for Humans
try these guys from Brighton
I like Meet Me In St. Loius for energetic rockin out fun times.
Broken Social Scene do the LC! loads better and in less annoying ways to my ears anyway.
but those bands are all fans of these I do believe...
is it just over-exposure around these parts?
they got a hell of alot of hype a while ago on here and now thats died down and they get abuse instead. I kinda like JoFo mind out of the two, nowt mind blowing but its good fun.
never heard Los Campasinos, but I think it's safe to assume they're shit. Dana were completely underwhelming. JoFo are alright, they've written some pretty catchy songs.
an awful way to compare bands
you bell end.
but yes, they are a bit shit. I find Danana completely underwhelmig too. Maybe i'm gettig old.
JoFo, on the other hand, are fucking great.
worked quite well it seems.
Lets just say I can't imagine them being very good from what I've heard, doesn't sound like something I'd usually listen to. This doesn't necessarily mean they're awful, but I'm not going to go out of my way, to check them out.
jf's are soppy
Like, a lot of the notes are played on the higher strings, but with a kind of thicker tone. <- BORING.
The best thing ever to come from Norwich, musical or otherwise.
It's pretty shocking how Johnny Foreigner have ripped them off and made it shite. Still, that Distophia album that was never released is pretty fun.
I have no place in this thread, do I?
it seems. So much hate...
Trust me, you'll be calling those two shit for no reason pretty soon.
Maybe Johnny Foreigner don't see what all the fuss about YOU? Calling JoFo and Los Campesinos shit is passe by now surely?
to one degree or another. And while I think it's reasonable to suggest that they all sound alike, it seems to me that there are unique influences to be heard within each.
JoFo - Definitely has touches of US pop punk from the 90's, particularly Blink 182, and particularly in the guitar sound.
Los Camp! - The most 'indie' and 'twee' of the three.
Dana - Their guitar hooks and vocals borrows more from hardcore and metal than the other two.
I'm obviously generalizing here, but this makes sense to my ears.
We kind of assume Danana are right at or near the top of the 'underground' in the UK, with their radio play and their blanket love on here, yeah?
Number 13 on the independent album chart.
is massive critical adulation on DiS, followed by enormous backlash (this hasn't kicked in with Danana yet but it will happen, tis INEVITABLE).
So if you like bands-that-were-massively-hyped-and-now-aren't-flavour-of-the-month-core I recommend ROLO TOMASSI. Plus they are actually ace.
