Shugo Tokumaru - Rum Hee
Probably the most joyous record ever? His last album Exit was wonderful, but this tops it.
Some great new songs, and the new versions of earlier songs are much improved (even Parachute, which was my track of 2008).
Beautiful oddball sixties influenced hyper-pop from Japan with lots&lots of hugs and smiles.
Fans?
oooh, i've only got the last album but i LOVE it.
he's also playing in Tokyo two days before i arrive - gutted!
i'd say its better
the first two tracks are magnificent.
tis only an EP.
also-DiS saying a thread hasnt posted when it has=grr
DiS making me re-type my post about 712 times = grr
I'm going to try finding more of his stuff when i'm in Japan.
theres a very good record shop for that sorta stuff.
but i cant remember the name, will try to get back to you with it.
i'd recommend picking up the Motora Faarm album "and watercycles" whilst yr there. stunning.
and some worlds end girlfriend & matryoshka if you have the dollar
i've only got the Mono / Worlds End Girlfriend album: tis great.
his other stuff is very different
Hurtbreak Wonderland is a good place to start, but my favourite is either the Sky Short EP or The Lie Lay Land.
Kashiwa Daisuke's Requiem is also very good and in a very similar vein
I just found out about this earlier today
by visiting cokemachineglow
and then looked at hmv in japan, and it works out as £13! probably with postage yet to be added on. for an ep!
so I'm not too sure when/how I will get this. Hope it is released somewhere other than Japan..
