something along the lines of BT's "this binary universe"
is pretty much the definition of electronica meets classical.
I came here to post Murcof, Cosmos is brilliant as well.
Didn't we have this thread a week ago?
Also - The Critical Path by Tipper, Rossz Csillag Allat Szulletett by VSnares and The Blurring of Trees by Lexaunculpt.
None of these are at all like This Binary Universe. They are, however, much much better. Particularly Murcof.
what about something less minimalist than murcof
Might not be what you're looking for though.
more electronica than classical i guess
And also try Jóhann Jóhannsson, Max Richter & Kashiwa Daisuke.
Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I [the only album of his worth having I reckon..stunning..a must have]
Venetian Snares - My Downfall [Rossz came first but this album improves it imo]
Daedelus - Invention [his best album..again in my opinion]
but soap and skin has a few tracks that're mostly piano with some dark electronics/strange noises over the top at points. It's quite good.
Richard D James LP.
Is there much classical on that album? Ive got it, but I rarely listen to it...I'm pretty sure their isnt...
But Girl/Boy song is full of strings and mental percussion.
And strangely, I'll recommend this for the second time in a week;
kind of like amon tobin with classical samples
just the one m, double typed it for some reason
First thing I thought of. The album ain't bad either
remix of a Björk's 'Sun In My Mouth' by Ensemble. All the strings are cut up and abstracted over the simple music box of the original song. It's gorgeous.
World's End Girlfriend
Message To Bears
the tumbled sea
not sure if it's exactly what you're after but worth a shot.
Or Variations of Static by Olafur Arnalds, has some electronics in it but is mostly classical.
is worth investigating
Carl Craig and Mroitz Von Oswold is great..
It's Carl Craig and Moritz remixing a number of peices by Maurice Ravel and Modest Mussorgsky into an extended composition. It really is fantastic.
with quiet.. and is a really interesting bit of music.. have it on all the time at work.. takes you places over the hour or so..
particularly copia, Max richter definitely, Efterklang maybe
by helios (type records!)
so: MAX RICHTER
but for a slightly different angle, how about Alarm Will Sound's Acoustica album which is a collection of orchestral Aphex Twin covers...its very good.
