What music did you buy this weekend?
My girlfriend made the fatal error of leaving me on my own in Soho for 3 hours, and therefore I am now substantially poorer financially, and richer musically:
Fopp
Crystal Castles - £4
Wiley - £4
SFA - Hey Venus - £3
Errors most recent LP - £6
Cautious Records (where Reckless used to be down Berwick St)
Malcolm Middleton - 5:12 - £5
Coldplay X&Y - £1
Jurassic 5 debut - £1 (the girlfriend liked my Cut Chemist LP see)
The Whip - £6
Mission of Burma - Vs - £4
The Faint's most recent - £5
So far the SFA album seems ok, but not as 'instant' as their others. And The Whip record is a massive letdown.
Fopp also had these beauties (which I already own)
The Neil Young back catalogue - £5 each
Steely Dan - various records - £3
El-P's most recent - £4
Nick Cave - Did Lazarus dig - £5
And cautious also had these gems in the £1 section
David Holmes - Bow down to the exit sign
The Chap - Mega breakfast
Manda Rin - My DNA
How's about you?

good stuff!
looks like you're catching up on cool shit. sell out. ;)
Haha
No, I've just got a lot of catching up to do, late starter etc. It also took me ages to realise my own tastes, (I used to buy a lot of crap) but I guess that's all part of the process. I hadn't listened to a Neurosis track until a few days ago, which was a massive FAIL on my part. I liked them so much that I decided to order another two albums straight away.
i'm still obsessing over the Mastodon album
Radio Department on eMusic
The Microphones on eMusic
Was gonna buy Barr from Yes Way but borrowed it instead.

From the HMV 2 for £10
Closer and Unknown Pleasure - Joy Division
Lets Stay Friends - Les Savy Fav
Med sud i.... - Sigur Ros
Piccadilly Records
The Twilight Sad Killed my parents and hit the road
That's 3 albums?!
I considered getting that Les Savy Fav album from HMV actually.
No
Closer and Unknown Pleasures are two seperate albums, I just put them together as they're by the same band.
The Les Savy Fav is pretty good. The Sleeve booklet is also damn fine.
Oh, my bad
I didn't read it properly. I would NEVER put two albums on a single line like that, you crazy fool :)
legal and illegal stuff
legal: Sin Fang Bous and OXXES from Emusic
illegal: New PJ Harvey and Depeche Mode
I bought
Feels - Animal Collective
and
Merriweather Post Pavilion - Animal Collective
Both wonderful, although I'd been listening to MPP to death on Spotify, so I knew I'd love that!
well
Cowboy Junkies: Trinity Sessions
Eric B and Rakim: Paid in full
These I have bought/ordered in last few days
Hatcham Social - You Dig The Tunnel.. I'll Hide the Soil
the Dulocks - Children of the Sea
... from band stalls
Empty Set - As neat as a new pin
Trouble Books - Endless Pool EP
... by post
Hatcham Social = Good
Jabberwocky = Shit
I bought live and dangerous by thin lizzy and holland by the beach boys a few weeks ago
erm.
I plan on buying the dovers 10" in the future but it costs 30 euro so massive :( I love them so much but you can listen to most of their songs on myspace/internet, could I justify it? I will at some point in the future, no doubt.
"Massacre" on Live and Dangerous
is awesome. Definitive version methinks.
yeah, it's excellent
the way it comes in from dancing in the moonlight's one of my favourite bits. I don't know any other versions of it though, no johnny the fox for me.
I got together by together too
Nothing bought on the weekend but
had the following or ordered them on Friday, which is technically the weekend, i've held back on ordered or buying too much as I spent a lot in Cardiff the week before
Husker Du - Candy Apple Grey LP
Rage Against The Machine - Bullet In The Head 12" Picture Disc
and ordered
Dinosaur Pile Up - Traynor 7"
Detroit Social Club - Sunshine People 7"
Stiff Little Fingers - Inflammable Material
is that Dinosaur Pile Up tune about
DiS' own John D?
Inflammable Material
= classic
Vs for £4!
that'sa good deal.
I ordered some stuff:
Helmet - Betty £3
Helmet - Meantime £3
Sleep - Holy Mountain £6
And from the relapse sale I got
Neurosis - Times of Grace
Harvey Milk - Courtesy and Goodwill Toward Men
Baroness - The Red Album
Sun Dial - Other Way Out
but it's ok, these were financed by flogging a spare mac charger I had lying around
Ended up getting £60 for it on eBay.
Utter win.
Which Neurosis albums do you already own...
You told me to get "Through Silver In Blood", so you must have that one. Any others?
Only that one and The Eye of Every Storm
the latter of which is very ISIS-y
I don't even know what Isis sound like
but I have ordered "Panopticon", so I'll find out soon enough.
ISIS sound like a giant ball of WIN rolling down a steep mountain and crashing into the sea below
steely dan
are cool
Bow Down for a quid!!
:O
I know
I nearly bought it again purely as it was so cheap...
nothing at the weekend but bought a sam cooke compilation today
Went to Fopp and got:
!!! - Myth Takes - £4
Bob Dylan - Bringing it All Back Home - £5
Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited - £5
The Cure - Disintergration - £3
Silver Jews - American Water - £7
Talking Heads - Remain in Light - £4
Nothing revolutionary. I've been looking for a decently priced copy of American Water for ages, so I was chuffed with £7. On first listen, the !!! was a bit underwhelming. I already know the others, but just wanted a physical copy. Yeah.
Myth Takes is a brilliant album
surprisingly so, I really didn't expect to like it that much.
Disintegration for £3!!!
THe first 2 bars of plainsong are worth that alone. Sweet Jesus, what a record.
Wow
Remain In Light is a genuine 'best album ever' contender. Enjoy!
Oh right
You already had it on mp3. Ignore me...
I bought PJ Harvey & John Parish today
I think it's the first physical album I've bought this year, although I do have Bat for Lashes on pre-order.
Nothing.
I've bought too much stuff recently and not listened to it. Been rocking the Calories album and Acme Plus by Jon Spencer Blues Explosion in the car. \m/
i preordered the new
casiotone and danananaykroyd LPs. April 6th is gonna be a fine, fine day.
I'm in the US mind you, but
I had a gift card for best buy so i went and picked up
Boys and Girls In America by The Hold Steady...pretty good one.
just one 7"
by Wooderson and Ox Scapula, it's pretty good though.
^ Well reminded,
I've been meaning to buy this for ages...
Couldn't decide between Kylesa and Mastodon
So bought Winter Hours by Tombs instead
DOOM - Born Like This
Lightspeed Champion - Falling off the Lavender Tree
Beck - Sea Change
Crystal Antlers - Tentacles (pre-order)
Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone! (pre-order)

I was a bit gutted with the Juan Maclean record...
A few belters, but the vocals on every track made it all a bit Human League for me?
i ordered the two new Casiotone LPs on amazon this morning
shouldn't have done really.
Got Author! Author! by Scars for £7.99 in Canterbury on 12"

srsly zapsta
i ordered three new CDs from amazon today and - a few charity shop purchases aside - they're the first new albums i've bought since... um... october i think. IT'S NOT FUN.
I'm using "buy" in the very loosest sense of the word
what did you think of
Old Time Relijun zapsta?
Got the PJ/Parish album - Jury still out at the moment
I also got a fab thing called the 'taste of chaos ensemble plays Leviathan'. It's the entire MAstodon album played through by a string sextet. The booming cello scrapes actually sound better than the original bass I think.
FOPP
Ragga Twins - Ragga Twins Step Out - £6
Noisia - Fabriclive.40 - £5
Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do - £4
Grooverider - Fabriclive.06 - £3
Death In Vegas - Fabriclive.23 - £3
The Upsetters - Super Ape - £3
The Handsome Family-Honey Moon
The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band-The Doughnut In Grannys Greenhouse
despite me purchasing it on vinyl pre release my copy of the new Mono album still hasn't arrived
I bought Sings Reign Rebuilder by Set Fire to Flames on vinyl
£25 on ebay, bit expensive but never though i'd get to own it, not because it is particularly rare or sought after but because I couldn't imagine anyone ever wanting to sell it. Arrived yesterday, I burnt out my speakers by playing it too loud.
From Jumbo in Leeds
I got the Fly Girls rap compilation which had been tempting me for too long. Hopefully it will live up to my expectations. Any opinions on it?
Plus:
Downdime - Knowing Too Much. Bought this on the strength of their singles from a few years back.
It's a Buffalo - Don't Be Scared. Totally on spec was this one. They were described as something like 'The Cribs meets country rock'. Given I love Cribs (esp. first album) I had a gamble. Doesn't seem wonderful on first listen - reminds me of Coral in places - but I'll persist.
Total: £34
This is a post of a lad called cowcow proclaiming that he bought the album of a band called Adebisi Shank
I also bought a copy of ASIWYFA for my cousin, which means that he'll get it before me - cheers STA! :@ :) :P
