it's probably going to be GREAT and on whilst i'm at ATP :'(
so right by my a levels. hmmmnhmnm.
which atp are you going to? fans for me!
I hope so! Because I am!
June might be pretty decent for me, I'd DEFINITELY be up for that providing work/prior engagements don't get in the way :)
Apologies for this, but I write a roundup of what's on in Edinburgh every week on a Monday. It may not be complete - I only list it if I personally want to go, not if it's cool - but it might help.
I find it pretty much agrees with my taste :)
Keep up the good work!
do you know of any other decent resources for finding out decent gigs over this way?
I meant, not really, I tend to go direct to the venue and promoter's pages every Monday when I write that post, which is why it takes so long. There just aren't that many different places in Edinburgh though - Sneaky Pete's, The Bowery, Cab Vol, Limbo, Wee Red Bar, Henry's... that's about it really.
Nice to meet a reader though. It's always mildly surprising, for some reason.
Astral Social Club is/are playing at somewhere called Sneaky Pete's. Could be good!
There are loads of good bands playing Glasgow. I think i'm looking forward to the Breeders most. And these guys on Friday
which promises to be really good if they are going to play songs like the ones on that page. It's a bit like indie rock crossed with Mr Bungle
How about for HORSE The Band in May?
AGES away, I know, but should be up your street :)
April 7th Cabaret Voltaire (thats two weeks today)
First day of a week-long holiday, HOORAY.
(ps, think i'll need advance tickets?)
It was a covert mission to see Watchmen with my friend though. Horse the Band definitely sounds like a plan as long as I don't have an exam around that time :) Uni is so rubbish!
Last.fm is really good for spotting gigs I reckon. More people seem to be actually putting their gigs on it now
... Henry's Cellar Bar on the 4th April has a couple of excellent bands -
and generally puts on some good stuff
25/3 - Schwervon, Come In Tokyo, Withered Hand at the Bowery
26/3 - Leith Tape Club (Rob St. John, Randan Discotheque, etc)
or 26/3 - Come On Gang! at Limbo/The Voodoo Rooms
27/3 - Two oxjam gigs at the Bowery & Roxy Art house (upstairs from Bowery) - Vashti Bunyan/Jesus H Foxx
28/3 - De Rosa Album launch at Sneaky Pete's OR Broken Records at Bedlam Theatre (though think it's sold oot).
3/4 - Thomas Truax/Witherd Hand at Cabaret Voltaire (free!)
OR Jesus H Foxx at Sneaky Petes OR Frightened Rabbit at Bowery (sold out!)
4/4 - Benjamin Weatherill/Wee Rogue/Rob St John at Bowery
That should get you started anyway.
I'm definitely going to that.
I can't make Ben Wetherill thanks to annoying work commitments, but I may go to leith tape club tomorrow seeing as I just work round the corner :)
April 7th at Sneaky Pete's. Jeniferever at Cab Vol on April 26th.
at the queens hall. You might need to sell your leg to get a tik though. Errors at the bongo club and im told frightened rabbit are doing the queens hall augustish
