ehwhat I want to kiss you. I want to hold you in my arms and cherish you through long winter nights together. I want to find and tune my acoustic guitar just so I can write sweet off-kilter ditties in praise of you.
I thought I was the only one who thought that Honey's Dead was vastly superior to Pyschocandy (the recieved wisdom being that Psychocandy is their one classic album and they went steadily downhill after that). I have felt so alone for so so so so so long.
What is it you don't like about it? The feedback, the druggy attitude, the Moe Tucker drums, the garage rocking guitars, the hooky melodies, the shortness of the songs?
Cos all that stuff spells "yes" in my value system.
Honey's Dead has aged terribly. Listen to the drums.
They sound like the drums used by M People and the Lighthouse Family. Perhaps it sounded smashing at the time of release but unfortunately by the time I heard it all the shit pop 90s bands used programmed drums that sounded exactly like those on Honey's Dead.
I reckon HD is one of JAMC's weaker moments. It always seemed to me they were trying to do another psychocandy and hence it sounded quite contrived.
Psychocandy is much better, probably tying with Darklands for best album.
Stoned and Dethroned is fucking ace, love the country elements. Probably my most listened-to JAMC album
HOOOOOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

xxxxXXXxxxxx
Psychocandy is chords 1 and 4, one after the other, with some blathering over the top and token fuzz.
Honey's Dead is all killerwhale no fillerfail
Utter rot.
They're both classics. So there.
I like both albums
but agree honeys dead is loads better!
truth be told...
i prefer 'darklands' to either of them. also, describing 'psychocandy' as "meh" is just wrong.
I agree
'Darklands' is my favourite too.
Mine too
Soyme here
Describing anything by JAMC as 'meh': craziness.
You've obviously not got
'Stoned & dethroned' or 'Munki' then?
Stoned and dethroned is so middle of the road
it is a danger to oncoming traffic.
I like it in its own understated way
You probably have to be stoned to fully get it, but meh, not my scene.
Psychocandy is one of the worst albums I've ever heard
just...baffled

OK, bit of a sacred cow, but...come on.
Preposterous

'Automatic' pisses on it
JAMC never ages
Everything they have done is genius. End of subject.
theres no accounting for taste
