What an utter, utter TUNE
Iv got to agree. Its an absolute classic!!!!!
it annoys me now for two reasons:
1 - It originally surfaced almost a year ago, was the big tune of my summer, and now commercial radio's picked up on it and it seems to be everywhere.
2 - Its brilliance is attributable to Crookers, who are clearly mad Italian geniuses. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Kid Cudi, whoever the f*ck he is, and yet seemingly on the strength of this song he was touted in all those pointless broadsheet 'ones to watch in 09' lists. Has anyone even heard the original? Its just another example of ignorant the majority of the music press remains when it comes to electronic music. *sigh*
Sorry about that.
its not like they didn't get buttfucked by every dance music instituion/piece of media/dj all last year, and will continue to do v. well for themselves
noooo the plebs have heard a song i like? what iff.. they..discover b-b-b-blogs! D:
choose your own adventure
In the UK the artist is Kid Cudi VS CROOKERS
In the UK its first release was in January 2009, and it is customary of the commerical radio to play chart hits, no?
lamenting the songs popularity, I just thinks its been overplayed and I accept that this is as much my fault as anyones but the result is that now it 'annoys' me. This is a subjective truth.
Plebs?? I was complaining about broadsheets. I'm all for the democratisation of music. In fact, I probably wouldn't have heard this tune when I did if it wasn't for the role the internet has played in that respect.
The subject line of your post is worded a little strongly, no?
the other point I was making is that I think crookers deserve the majortity of the credit for this track. They were never going to get this credit in certain sections of the music press (ie. conservative, indie-centric). This obviously does not include mixmag and hypem, who are free butfuck whomever they want in relative obscurity.
the hook (arguably the bit which everybody rates) is all kid cudi, i'm fairly sure the drum sound and samples crookers has been rinsing in nearly every one of the near endless tracks and remixes they shat out last year had an effect worthy of the majority of the credit. otherwise all those other tracks would be huge, no? crookers are a perfect example of an act resting on their laurels, they come on to a really fantastic sound and rinsed it for all it was worth.
about Crookers. For me, this tune represents why they were so exciting when they first blew up, but now the formula's getting a little staid.
Without the bassline, tho, this song would never have been a hit. Maybe its just me, but I can't stand the vocal.
was the song of summer '08.
I remember the first time I heard it played at one of the uni pop/chart/cheese nights. Made me feel a bit sad. It was everywhere like 6 months ago though..not sure why it is being mentioned now? Surely no DJs still play this? It's been worn out.
A row erupts after such a short time on here.
Tune though. Tune.
This place is getting worse than the forums on youtube: "fck u u psy pc of sht" etc.
there's many a similar track that'd slay they party harder. count & sinden's hardcore girls ep is better.
it really reminds me of Night by Benga & Coki mind.
b-b-b-b-b-b-b-bip-boooo-booooo-boooo! d-d-day & night...
but this is a solid gold TUNE.
