I really like them.
vague safetywink but not really.
I thought that new one was boring for a bit but it isn't really. Just a bit more guitary again. And that first one does sound like All Right Now off the chewing gum advert.
I can't really get into their early stuff but I really like the last few albums, especially Friend Opportunity.
the runners four is my pick of their albums, but i really like all their stuff.
they're mighty good fun.
to shake hands with the camera :D
Yeah! There's some more Juan's basement ones of them on there. They look really happy to be playing in all of them. I love it.
I want to know when there's some more UK shows, preferably in the North...
and had to leave just as they were starting to play 'milk man' because we were going to miss the train. Then we missed the train anyway :''''(
people seem to have beef with the voice
great live, and lovely.
but get irritating after a while
Really like Offend Maggie.
Where to go after Offend Maggie?
or The Runners Four
...and frankly me and my mate could never have been more bemused. The drumming was incredible but I found the girl's voice was just not my thing and her delivery irritated me. Since them I've listened to a couple of their albums and I have to say, my opinion of them hasn't changed. The music is actually rather good at times but as soon as the vocals screw it up, I don't last long before I turn it off. Never been able to get into them.
I think they could be a lot better then they are. I do, but not greatly.
Hated 'Friend Opportunity' that I got recommended. But as soon as I delved into the back catalogue I found some excellent stuff.
'Apple 'O' is my favourite, 'Milk Man' is also excellent. I don't get the fuss over 'Runners Four' but I do prefer it to 'Friend Opportunity'.
Is 'Offend Maggie' worth picking up?
It's good, but then I really like Friend Opportunity so I might not be the best person to give you an answer!
Friend Opportunity too. What's not to like about that album? The Perfect Me and +81 are worth the money or their own.
Why did you delve further after hating FO though?
Listen to Runners Four some more there's some astonishing stuff on there - especially Wrong Time Capsule and Spirit Ditties of No Tone.
Get Offend Maggie anyway, give the guys some money - they deserve it.
But one time I was listening to them stoned and all of a sudden decided or 'realised' they were utter rubbish.
Since then though, I've come to the conclusion this was a once off opinion, I do like them.
Only discovered them early last year but now have most of their stuff. Saw them at ULU last time they came to the UK and had such a stupid grin on my face watching them.
Was initially disappointed with Offend Maggie but it really improved with each play and I now think it's as good as anything they've done.
They make me very happy.
Try Sholi s/t for a more easily digestable version. Sholi drummer = amazing as Greg Saunders; singer wayyy better than squeaky Deerhoof chick.
Got into them after hearing a few tracks on Friend Opportunity. The vocals were never a problem, I think they add an innocence to the often abrasive drums and guitar. Seeing them at ULU was a highlight, if a little too quiet for my taste.
