Good pop albums
I am very much in the liking pop music camp, but whenever I commit a bit more by buying an album on the strength of some killer singles they always stink (Justim Timberlake, Gilrs Aloud, Amerie, Busted, Beyonce to name the main ones). Hit me with a good mainstream pop record where the non-singles are even listenable.

McFly- Wonderland
Now lets never speak of this again.
Weird...
this was the first album I thought of as soon as I saw the title of this thread.
Easily McFly's best and most accomplished...
Rihanna- Good Girl Gone Bad
I know they've been debated to death on here
And you've mentioned them right there, but I really do think that Chemistry, Tangled Up (in particular) and Out Of Control are all fantastic albums. I don't think Tangled Up has one duff track, and it's pretty criminal that more singles weren't released of it.
its all about singles / tracks / radio
Albums and pop haven't met for a very long time.
It's a bit like dance music in that way, I mean I've got a freakin billion 12" dubstep singles this year already that are pure killer and no filler. But there isn't many albums out yet, it all moves so fast and is all about the tracks...
You have to make your own narative with it.
Anything by
the killers.
Nelly Furtado - Loose
all great, apart from the Spanish tracks.
the golden spike - sky larkin
thats pretty much pop music to me.... and its brilliant at that
craigx
what do you mean by "pop" music?
I second the Tangled Up emotion
It's fantastic
I third it
Only one duff ballady thing on it. The rest is gold.
I also highly rate Rihanna's 'Good girl gone bad'. It really is very good.
Also, 'Futuresex / Lovesounds' by Justin Timberlake is immense. A great album, no just a great pop album.
Britney's 'Blackout' was tragically underrated, and Timbaland's most recent work had four or five of the best noughties' pop crossover tracks on it.
I'd also recommend looking at Little Boots who looks to be a bit good, reading Popjustice religiously and buying anything by Annie without stopping to ask why.
Animal Collective - Merriweather post pavilion
;)
I guess you own everything ever by SFA too, right?
If not, buy their singles collection and never look back.
Agreed on SFA.
A-ha - Hunting High & Low
Mylene Farmer - Anamorphosee (ok not mainstream here but she's bigger than Madonna in France)
Madonna - True Blue
Nelly Furtado - Loose [the album that got me into music!]
