A triumph of simple songs with fantastic construction and realisation, yes?
Sounds like a dream!
and it is wonderful.
Love all the little geography references, it's like going on a musical field trip.
It's really rather good. I'm pretty much exclusively listening to this and Trail of Dead at the mo'.
as to me it sounds like a bizarre mix between Mates of State, Bjork, and Trail Of Dead. I think the drummer is brilliant.
I'm on my third listen now, this just keeps getting better!
I've always knew Sky Larkin were good, but this is best British album for years material!
I reckon I must give the album a shot. I haven't purchased enough new albums this year like. No ...Trail of Dead either.
Its been a pretty constant fixture since, its an excellent album.
Great live band also.
lovely lovely stuff.
has everything you could want.
drums that are too loud and frantic for the guitars.
female vocals that are JUST in tune.
pop hooks w/riffs
Tis only £3.39 on Amazon mp3 download at the moment
but it's fantastic stuff. Some really great songs on there.
Why have DIS not reviewed it?
I can get away with playing this at work without people moaning!
or rewritten, sadly, so nothing as run yet.
or do they sound quite a lot like Sleater-Kinney? Note: This is not a criticism, I love S-K and Sky Larkin both.
more The Grates meets Mates Of State
Love this band, we've finally managed to get them to come and play a gig in Brum on May 3rd
but it's my favourite album of 2009 (so far) - yes it's a bit like MoS, sleater kinney and rainer maria but what's wrong with that?
its top notch stuff... 2 or 3 minute catchy tracks from start to finish
one of my favourite albums so far this year...
theres four or five stunning songs on golden spike, but too much filler. not in the same league as either of the los campesinos releases. i think sky larkin would definatly benifit with a bigger line up like los camp.
as much as I love Los Campesinos! I totally disagree with your post. Especially as WAB,WAD is half filler. I'd say I only really skip Fossil, I, Molten and One of Two because I'd heard them so many times before the album came out.
and they were fantastic. Bought the single Fossil I off the lead singer herself. My favourite album from this year to date.
pure dead good
