I'm in the mood
Rocketship's Hey Girl EP or their only album, Slowdive's Souvlaki, SPC ECO's new album the name escapes, Astrobite's Crush. All fit the description perfectly. Rocketship being the most dream poppy i think.
LSD and the Search for God
are what I usualy reach for in these times. I would probibly reach for Forma by Lukid as well but that isn't shoegazy at all its more like really dreamy atmospheric hiphop instrumentals.
are great but i wish i could find a hard/physical copy of their two records anywhere.
get the The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart LP
they do all that fuzzy, shoegazey, noisey, indie pop like wavves and crystal stilts and vivian girls etc, but they do it better.
beatufiul album. sounds like the cure and the pastels to me.
here is the Norman Records review, which probably makes more sense than i do:
"Here come The Pains. That's what I'm calling them. Bunch of blissed out indie robins have called themselves The Pains of Being Pure At Heart. That's quite frankly too long a name. I'm having none of it. If The Strokes were The Strokes of my Willy from That Nice Prostitute Sent Me Off Into a Bit of a Sexy Tizz, there'd be less cocaine on the table eh boys? Everyone knows all the pain is this sodding world comes from the heart. Apart from breaking your legs or being run over. Enough! Enough nonsense, the job's in hand, no honestly. Early My Bloody Valentine, Field Mice, Pastels erm.... all the great bands from UK in the late 80's/early 90's rolled into one classic sounding cake with proper fresh songs that make you tingle quite a bit, a spot of The Wedding Present in there, nice bass maneuvers, chiming jangly guitars & fey lyrics from the Bobby Wratten/Bernie Sumner school of lovelorn wistfulness! Anyone remember The Charlottes? They were good. Velocity Girl anyone? Is it C09? Is that a phone network? Enough piss taking, this is a wonderful, incredibly tuneful pastiche of a well loved & timeless guitar-pop sound thus the world is a better place for hot New York kids t'Pains."
