chances are it was a big big of over the top wanky nonsense.
still the label influence debate will rear its ugly head oncemore....
which would've at least been interesting.
Hard to say...
might just be typical nu musikal exprezz desire to throw in the words 'math rock' at anything which isnt mgmt.
but maybe im too sceptical, if it really was how they made it out to be then it would be something to look forward to, itll probably surface somewhere down the line anyway.
was actually impressed by it when I was talking to them about it before Christmas. They did say they weren't sure how it'd go down with the label/fans though.
I'm disappointed Klaxons have sided with their label and not put up a fight.
Enjoying the NME writer's leftfield interpretation of 'mathrock' there.
either way, i want to fucking hear it.
but if it were the second i'd really like to hear it
it sounds like it was too uncommercial, wasnt a problem with quality.
i wonder if crabbers has anything to say on the matter
Some people's opinions about labels and things are silly! Don't believe everything you read! Bye!
they like good things, i think they could make a really interesting leftfield album if they wanted
those live songs on youtube sound ace!
fuck Polydor for shelving it, cunts.
you do have to think it's got to be hard to write a good album afterwards. Surely everything they write/record from now on is going to have to be a necessary compromise and I don't think it's easy to write great songs out of compromises.
mind you, he thought Rock'n'Roll was amazing
he ended up falling off the stage and breaking his wrist.
drugs - GRATE
"Yeah we like Atlatnis and Gravitys Rainbow but can you write something Jo Whiley will like?
and that turned out OK if you ask me.
Massively incorrect assumption.
and I know Klaxons have always referred to themselves as a pop band. but Golden Skans was the single that promoted the album and properly broke them. it's undeniably poppy-er than their previous output at that time and anything else on Myths Of The Near Future.
It's not massively incorrect of me to not be surprised at them having to write more commercial music for the 2nd LP to make it more listenable when they already did it on the first album.
I said Golden Skans turned out alright because I love Klaxons.
this would be interesting to hear.
I always have this niggling feeling that they will just disapear and never record anything ever again for some reason. Dunno why...
isnt this pretty much the dictionary definition of selling out?
by the sword!!!!!!!!
EVIL HAS NO BOUNDARIES!
the singles on it were good. the rest of it was just fillers in my opinion. I didn't make many friends by saying that but I can't help it - it's just my opinion.
i didn't see the fuss with the klaxons whatsoever.
If the first one got through quality control I have no idea how bad the second one must have been
i'm surprised jamie reynolds has turned in some prog nonsense. he should know better. well done polydor.
I suppose on one hand the label are paying for everything so if they're not happy i guess they have a right. However the debate about compromising musicians creativity is still very distressing.
i think we would be surprised. but its just so...unromantic. and the fact that people are 'okay' with and even SUPPORTIVE OF a mercury prize winning band's sophomore album being rejected by a major has all manner of wretched implications too depressing to contemplate.
i think they should have been allowed to say 'fuck you, this is what we're releasing, we're sticking with it'. altho that does make me sound a little like alan mcgee.
I mean if the band did there thing then all excited gave it to the label and then got some feedback on it and realised that maybe they had kinda fucked up and needed to give it a tweak then I say its fair play and kind of stupid telling the press about it.
But if the band were happy with it and caved into the label then they are a bunch of pussys who like selling out...
If they wana sell out though thats cool you gota make soem cash somehow in this life... I wont listen to it if its a pile of shit though, if its still good and sold out thats alright mind.
To be fair they are probibly all talkin shit and its just them trying to get press and hype the album a bit. They will be starting beefs with Justice next or tellign Timberland to fuck off.
'we're a pop band at the end of the day' bullshit just makes me want to spew. you're the FUCKING COUNTER-CULTUE - ACT LIKE IT!!
i wouldnt mind but i don't even like the klaxons much.
they seem like the type that would just make up a load of bollocks to get some press.
They are all a bunch of loud mouth fucks from what I can gather I mean just look at crablin lol
Fuck off, you know absolutely nothing about me.
I was just taking the mick as you always pipe up in a loud obnoxious way when they are mentioned and its pretty fun how abusive and defensive you are.
you big mouthed fuck you
