What are the key elements in a great UK Summer Festival? DiScuss.
celebrity chefs, local produce, interesting talks.
Abergavenney Food Festival gives all of those and more.
I was born there.
free bear and steaks, no twats and comfy seats. Please.
You know that free bear's would be even better!
THey clasimed to be all out of grizzlies and we had to make do with one bloody brown bear between the four of us. Wouldn't have been so bad but they somehow managed to wangle a polar bear in the next tent. Jammy gits"
He must've cloned himself or something..
nice ale, good atmosphere. alternate lineup from the usual pish that clogs the festival circuits.
electric picnic is probably the best summer festival I've been to and it was all about the atmosphere, loads of friendly irish people & didn't see any fights break out, despite a good majority of the patrons being pissed enough to require medical attention. Plus it had New Order, Massive Attack, Gang of Four, Belle & Sebastian. Can't really go wrong with that line-up. In fact they tend to not bother with all the festival circuit bands, which is probably what made it pretty decent.
When it comes to bands and acts etc, do you think you can have too little / too much?
only had the two stages, but with bonnie prince billy and joanna newsom headlining it was more than enough. really it comes down to quality.
But you can have bad scheduling. Artists inappropriately hammocked between two similar bands, good bands clashing on opposing sides of the site, a headline act that's too big for a tent.
At festivals where there's nothing to do apart from drink and watch bands like Reading, this is a serious grind.
ten pin bowling
2) I can drink my own beer when watching bands
3) Varied selection of food
4) Post-headliner indiedisco
5) In the middle of nowhere
4/5 but you can make your own indiedisco
oh and faith no more, and not to mention, killswitch engage, zz top and prodigy and marilyn manson!

anything else i can take or leave, some good music will be nice too :)
1. Good weather
2. Non-violent crowd.
3. Good music which does not clash.
4. A lot space in the campsite.
5. It having a capcacity a lot less than what the site can hold.
6. Good toilets/water points.
7. Sound not artifcially lowered by the promoters.
8. Shops within walking distance of the site.
