New site layout! I think is looks quite nice, though the text size is far too small.
because they have been working on this.
well I wasn't gona say... but pretty much yeah.
But yeah, I kinda agree with you.
you have a distinct point though. All my favourite 08 albums were in their also-rans list...

You included Merriweather post pavillion and left out kind of blue
I cant help noticing that many of those were older albums already held in high acclaim before pitchfork even turned up
thats how dis should look. very nice.
and we're just about ready to launch it today too :(
There's so much content on the front page, and it's still easy to navigate round the site. I think it looks better than DiS personally.
still looks way better, particularly in organisation and layout. Pitchfork is all over the shop.
but it looks nice otherwise, a bit to clusterd but not bad
There are still adverts on the internet?
then it would be PiS.
It looks like they've gone for functionality over beauty. Whilst there has to be a balance between the two, I think this is just really blah. Also, my eye is just careening all over the place, there seems to be no heirarchy of information, I don't know where to look for what I want to find. It's not intuitive at all. There needs to be some sort of deliniation between sections. I'm not impressed. And the apple ad is particularly offensive, especially as there's a 'close' button on it that doesn't actually work.
buuut i do really like how on the little front page record reviews your have to roll over the covers to see what they are, i used to just go on there and immediately dismiss reading the reviews based on the names (this is actually a good filter of crap though btw) but now i read the little captions too. WELL DONE PITCHFORK.
is up with that grid? it's all over the shop! Is it just because i'm an anal web designer that I can't view this as anything but a design car crash?
THAT'S a design car crash.....
Anyway, I think their new design looks ok to me....layout wise, I've definitely seen worse.
Oh btw, I don't work for them or anything :-)
The use of Comic Sans adds that element of class!
Just because it LOOKS clean, doesn't mean it's easy to use. It looks like an EA went straight to a developer and bypassed a designer. Functionally it's all there, but there's absolutely nothing to draw your eye around the page, information collides into one another, there's no proper organising of information, and the layout is a total shambles.
I just said the same thing twice there. Rather: 'information collides into one another, there's not proper heirarchy and the layout is a total shambles'. fixed. :-)
the ipod advert is mental. and they used to use Calibri, why'd they get rid of it!? :(
i gave up on their stupid reviews and recommending crappy stuff
where it's three columns, then it gets a bit messy bellow the divider lines.
Better than before. It has a white background like DiS who invented white backgrounds on websites. :P
It's very plain, crisp and clear. I hear what the guy above's saying about the grid though </design-geek> - doesn't entirely make sense from a layout perspective, above the fold, etc...
The new DiS will be better ;)
Although the 'fork does look nice.
i'm still mad at them for giving destroyer's "this night" a 4.4- fuck those douchez
"oh no! server error..."
just like dis then :')
I read DiS entirely through Bloglines now, frustrates me how Pitchfork still don't appear to have a subscription option.
that they are trying to sort the RSS feed, I sware I get a p4k news feed mind over RSS.
p.s. I hate myself for saying twittered...
and it wont work, i keep getting 504 gateway time out errors
nice succinct description, and you can listen to what you're reading about. Simple but great.
And the one before that even more so. I don't like scrolling and now I'm gonna hafta just to see who's being reviewed.
The other one had just enough color to give it some spice; this one looks washed out to me. Except for the giant billboard banner, eh?
And its only been redesigned to incorporate that fucking iPod advert. urgh. nice one Pitchfork. round of applause.
it used to be good when you could see all the recent reviews with a glance now you have to wade back through each days
