Make sure you get there in time to see them.
8.30 First Aid Kit
last night. More so than the gog at the Forum a while back. New songs sounded great. I thought the two new singles were much better live than on record but wasn'too sure about the afrobeat/Paul Simon Gracelandish song and title track 'Living Thing' though. Highlights were their excellent choice in cover of Fa Ce La by The Feelies and the epic Up Against The Wall.
for the first half or so of the gig it was just mind-blowingly dull, I was trying to figure out how people could possibly get excited about this sort of thing. Then they played some early song of their (I'm not au fait with their back catalogue so I dunno what it was), and suddenly they completely came to life, and from there on in were a total joy. So yeah, a gig of two halves.
Also: they had one song that sounded EXACTLY like Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (ain't no thang, Wham were pretty hype). And that Paul Simon one was all kinds of :/
so I enjoyed a lot of their new stuff, especially 'living things'
Started slowly but built up as the gig went on. I was stood in front of two absolute twats, which ruined things a bit for me.
this was the whole reason I wanted to go and I wondered how the 2 sisters held up?
The Fleet Foxes cover didn't sound like the best song to me so that bodes well. There's a nice interview with them on the Quietus site
I'm glad the Fleet Foxes wasn't the best. Makes me sad I missed it but glad to hear they put on a good show.
