The Skaters
Man, these guys really are amazing. Everything I hear of them is just f**king unbelievable.
I think I'm ready to venture into Ferraro/Clark side project territory. I know there's loads of them. How do they compare? Some of the Clark stuff has deep/spiritual references which I'm interested in. Anyone have recommendations?

I know nothing about them
except I download everything I can find by 'em.
i've never been totally convinced
i'll hear one thing that sounds mindblowing and inspired and the next just sounds like sounds like listening to my mum doing the hoovering.
^
but when it's good it's really really good. My favourite Skaters is this one, it sounds like it could be excerpts from different weird rituals
http://www.discogs.com/Skaters-Wind-Drapeing-IncenseDripping-Avenues/release/937834
and this Vodka Soap one is mindblowing.
http://www.discogs.com/Vodka-Soap-Parallel-Visitation/release/930346 It's as if there are infinite layers of beautiful sounds. That sounds stupid but honestly, it's awesome!
The latest James Ferraro 'Last American Hero' tape is really good. He makes really intense stuff with a load of cheap sounding instruments. I also have 'Virtual Erase' which is like bizarre amiga game music with added terror.
There's a short sample of the Monopoly Child cd-r I have here
http://stoneskilled.blogspot.com/2008/09/monopoly-child-star-searchers.html
I can't say i've heard a good proportion of the stuff though, especially wrt the Skaters stuff cos the last big releases have been LPs that I haven't bought. And the new Ferraro cdrs are £8.99 which is stupidly expensive
Listen to the Pacific City Sound Visions show with Charles Berlitz if you can (Tuesday 9-11AM!). I think it's beamed from another dimension or something. Coconuts a-kuku

SHIT FUCKING HOT dude
http://www.rootstrata.com/rootblog/?p=699
the other highlights of James' stuff include Pan als Allgott Saturnia, 1992 Cool Runnings, Teotihuacán and the Wooden Cupboard stuff. The best Clark tapes are Un Chand Pyramidelier and Piper Maru.
Errrm yeah, good shit.
ha
pierre said dude. dick.
teh james ferraro cdrs is best atm imo
ilike lamborghinic rystal and k2 also tho idk
the skaters are good indeed
i think i prefer james ferraro and vodka soap stuff though. it's all probably too prolific would be my criticism.
also, confusion reigns:

lots of great Ferraro stuff - 'Heaven's Gate' is the pick of the CD-Rs for me. Love the Lamborghini Crystal stuff too.
Managed to pick up Ferraro's 'Multitopia' on vinyl from Selectadisc last weekend, my last every Selectadisc purchase *sadface*

Salford
I was wondering if anyone has a link for the Salford gig. I can't find online about it and was thinking about heading over for it. I'm going to the Leeds one and I'm toying with London or Salford at the weekend.
