line-up and forum. have a look.
holy christ almighty
i tried, i really, really tried to avoid primavera this year. but i'm going.
of songs about eco-cars though :(
Almost certainly the best festival lineup for a few years.
I don't like Neil Young, mind.
Mission of Burma being the obvious exception ha.
2 years ago however- woah.
I'm chalking this one up to different tastes....
with prmavera there really isn't any 'better/worse than last year' statements to be made - every year seems to totally hit the nail on my head.
It always manages to cover so much music that I'm into at the time from a host of genres.
It's my first year off since 2005 so maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better :D
Andrew Bird, Aphex Twin, Deerhunter, El-P, Fucked Up, Ghostface Killah, Jarvis Cocker, Lightening Bolt, Marnie Stern, My Bloody Valentine, Neil Young, Shellac, Sonic Youth, Squarpusher, The Jesus Lizard, The Mae Shi...
I think I might have just given up on going to ATP for this.
return for my flights on Easyjet.
I was just about to check this.
Do you fly straight to Barcelona, and is it easy to get there from there? Sorry I'm a complete Primavera n00b.
at 13:30 Barcelona time today...
add Parts & Labor and Abe Vigoda.
that is good 'cause I can now justify missing them in Sheffield and see Abe Vigoda in Manchester!
looking forward to seeing them though. Hopefully it'll be a repeat of when I saw Portishead (who I'd never really listened to) at ATP and suddenly realised why everyone had been going on about them for so long.
and was instantly wondering which planet I'd been on all these years
I can see some heartbreaking clashes emerging though.
some great new additions!
Would like to see St. Etienne, but none of the other adds inspire with particular wonderment. Plus, no Girl Talk :(
the lack of inspiration in them names along with the cancellation of Girl Talk has not made this the best announcement
(i was kind of hoping for the breeders)
still herman dune and liars are both fanastic live, and interested in seeing jesu.
was hoping for m83 and beirut myself.
Is any of those acts announced today playing at the after or pre-parties? or are they all playing the festival itself?
It's usuallu local spanish bands that do it so makes sense. the full lineup should come next week
i think i read something on the forum a while back about one of the pre festival park shows would be a group of K Records bands. i imagine. to be honest i don't know half of the bands just announced so not sure.
edit the 'i imagine' bit!
I'm pretty sure these bands will play the parties. Remember the lineup is only still just over 60% finished. Only been these bands and neil young since the big announcement the other week.
the apollo pre festival party, but does ring a bell, i think that must be really early the week of primavera, like the monday or tuesday as i didn't go last year. they usually put on a few bands on the thursday and friday midday in parks around the city before the festival (which usually starts around 4 or so). the post fest party is on sunday night at a central venue.
i think there are usually (free)gigs from monday to wednesday nights, at apollo and other small-ish venues in the city. and of course the closing party at apollo on sunday.
i have to find out where's that park with the daytime shows ... however can't imagine i'd be in any condition to be up & watching bands at 1pm...!
last year but that in itself was a struggle.
is it near the forum? we're going from monday this year so hope to make full use of the ticket and catch some pre-festival stuff.
And it was free with your Primavera ticket. Not ridiculously packed, quite chilled actally. Lots of people slumped in corners and against walls and etc, proper post-festival.
wave pictures and a Spanish band played, plus DiS dj's and it wasn't that busy really. good times though.
pre and post parties take place at APOLO (city center), pre parties beeing from monday to wednesday and pos party on Sunday (good groups this day last year the wave pictures and the year before of montreal for example) and then DJs till very late (6pm as usual closing time for clubs in Spain). The park is very near from Sants railway station (one of the main rail stations). All of them free with your primavera ticket...well in fact are part of the festival!

is looking very sell-able. How i wish i'd never seen this.
this shits over ATP. literally shits over it by tons of shit.
why the fuck am i going to minehead.
camping at the festival site so you just have to find accomodation in the city. Decent apartments for about 25 euro a night each if you have a few people. This is preferable to hostel (which I did last time) not least because the festival goes on from about 6 in the evning till 5 in the morning every day. Survived it on about 3 hours sleep a night. Not ideal... So glad I put off going to ATP. Primavera looks even better than when I went last time (07). Amazing! By the way, the festival site is about 8 miles out of the city. You can get the metro there but it's not much of a fun walk back at 4 in the morning. And I would know...
