They are excellent. Who agrees?
I only have heard Pray To God Part One so far. What else is good?
pt.2 is just as good.
by an interstellar mile. shame this site pays them no mind.
sing to god 1 and 2 rule, then get on land and in the sea, and a little man and a house.
then get absolutely everything else and forget about all other bands.
seeing as his user name is one of their songs
he chose the user name though!
but aye, fucking amazing. do as suggested, get them albums then get all the other albums and get totally obsessed. start talking about them until even your cat knows all there is to know, start going up to people wearing cardiacs shirts on the streets (a rare moment, and one to savour).
And drop the 'The', just Cardiacs ;)
this band deserves more love you twats.
if you like fantomas, super furries, zu, blur, supergrass, oceansize, or mr bungle then check this band out.
Get everything, if you can find it. Unfortunately it's a tough time for them right now - singer Tim Smith had a very serious heart attack last year and everything is on hold indefinitely while he recovers. A new album had finally been completed too. Get all the other stuff and see what we're missing out on...
that at least half the fun with this band is the lyrics....
they're the only band where i'd recommend you read the words whilst listening to the album.
...Cardiacs are one of the best bands I ever did hear in my lug-pipes. I love them 'til my mind is sore. And now, to crassly hijack this thread, please take note if you're in London and play guitar and can sing and you too love Cardiacs - my band are looking for someone who fits that description:
Back to the praise: I think 'Core' (from the album 'Heaven Born And Ever Bright') is my favourite Cardiacs song today. A blast of pure energy and not a dull millisecond. Amazing.
A Little Man & A House & The Whole World Window By Cardiacs Revisited on the Quietus, enjoy:
For the rest of you, read and learn.
I'll add the caveat that it's only about their 4th or 5th best album (IMO)! Still better than anything else, obv.
ok this is wonderful stuff :D
the dots are being connected
Any of you Cardiacs lovers read The Organ fanzine back in the day? I used to subscribe when I was a teenager and desperate to leave home and live somewhere, anywhere else. They were huge Cardiacs fans and made London sound like the most exciting place in the world with their reviews of Cardiacs (and Zuno Men and Monsoon Bassoon and Mint 400 and ...)
Managed to see Cardiacs just the once at Glastonbury in '97 or '98.
Can't remember the names of the couple who ran it but yes they'd always be at each and every Cardiacs gig regardless of where it was. Clearly a bit obsessed, like me really.
at Reading in 1992, in the tent. They were fucking incredible.
A Little Man... isn't my favourite but they are the Best Band Ever.
I almost cried. I value this band more than my own life.
