Pretty funny for about three seconds?
The night after they played 7(?) tracks of Kid A on Lamacq a friend of mine listened in hope that he might here some more / the stuff he missed.
They played "Treefingers" and he said he cried through fear of the whole album sounding like that with no guitars on it and so on.
the bends - shit
ok computer - shit
kid a - shit
amnesiac - shit
hail to the thief - shit
in rainbows - shit?
pop is dead - GENIUS
I really like it.
It's a great song. The idea however, that one's favourite Radiohead song could be Treefingers is a bit hilarious.
Would it be "hilarious" if somebody were to say Music For Airports is their favourite album?
Treefingers is, by anyone's standards, a transition track. Not filler, but on the other hand not a standard Radiohead song. Someone does not become a huge Radiohead fan if that is their favourite track, as the other songs by the band will not resemble it.
to say it's their favourite song by them? I agree, the purpose on the album is that of transition, but does that have to be it's sole reason for existance? Can it not transcend that purpose?
I think by "anyone's standards" you mean "the standards of the kind of plebs that can only handle music that's organised into verses and choruses".
Why exactly is it not a patch on those songs?
if you like more ambient music, it's entirely possible to think treefingers is their best track, but the thread was talking about their best 'song', which i think is a little harder to argue.
yay for semantics :)
as telling people it's "Pull/Pulk Revolving Doors".
In a similar vein, does anyone else absolutely love Hunting Bears? It's genuinely one of my favourites from Amnesiac.
I really love it.
I'd probably be like "oh, that's interesting", mine is Idiotheque.
have a medal
used to think it was pretentious nonsense!
Either i became an idiot or it was a welcome break in the album, and made Kid A a better album.
I became an idiot. Nah it's a nice break i swear. Anyone who says it's their favourite track need a sharp Doc Martin boot to the winky.
or Permanent Daylight from the My Iron Lung EP are probably my favourites from the guitar days...........hearing the latter on the Kid A tour in Warrington was one of the best moments ever
I spent about 5 days downloading it when the album first leaded onto Kaazaa. I hated it so much and found it so pretentious I didn't listen to the rest of the album for about 2 years later. However, It's now my favourite album ever.
I totally associate that with Kid A. I don't think I've ever looked forward to an album as much as I did with Kid A, it was such an event. I remember being completely baffled but really excited by Q's description of each song. The photos they did for that spread with weird alien eyes were amazing.
I remember downloading the 'secret' track apart from it wasn't the secret track at all. It was amazing as well, I wish I knew what it was.
It's been a while since i've listened to Treefingers, but I'm certain there were processed vocals on it.
