i might have known peter stringfella would have something to do with this.
"hello, National Tinnitus Support Line, how can I help?"
"..... what? WHAT??? IS THIS PHONE STILL RINGING? HELLO?"
i always had a hangover of IMMENSE PAIN this morning.
that totally obscuro nirvana cover? SWEET
every band should include a nirvana cover in their set.
the only official release was a secret track on some old sub pop compilation i think
but everyone knows it. except you.
i was one of the only ones who seemed to know it
in front of me who kept turning round to his mate saying 'this is SUCH an obscure nirvana song', then mouthing the words so everyone could see and then right at the end, pointing at everyone and saying 'can't believe no-one knows this song except me' YES WELL DONE YOU KNEW THE SONG!
i've seen your profile pic.
seriously this guy was SO annoying. really punchable face.
and the "best of the box" compilation that came out a bit after it.
Good gig though. Well done Guntrip!
Still, three ace bands. ACE-O.
although I have it permanently anyway via being too \m/ for too long :(
They were v good though. Bonus points for rapscalion-jones being suprised I was there because he 'assumed I hate everything'
you non-earplug wearing fools. It was a great gig! All three bands were ace, and worked really well together. Los Campesinos would have fitted well into that bill too, it would make a great 'worshipping early 90s indie rock' tour.
I've been enjoying the Calories album today. I liked Kathy's dress. (is that a bad girly thing to say?)
does that get me points?
I sound like the Marlborough Man. Great show.
Better captured their kind of storm-wash guitar sound hence I suppose the new material sounding much stronger than at KCLSU.
Thermals were awesome-o, but they seemed a bit quiet. Needed more banter.
and you get a 25-track bonus CD. REALLY.
Also, cheers for organising last night Daniel, great stuff.
sounds great after a couple of listens, but 23 minutes - is this the shortest album of all time?!
on my commute to work this morning.
I remembered that I did bring my earplugs, so no ringing for me.
All 3 bands were fabulous fun in a 90s US underground revival kinda way and despite being sold out, the Lexington wasn't too cramped either. Wouldn't have mind a Thermals encore tho.
water rats a couple of years ago. maybe just cause it was a monday?!?!
bit disappointed. guy with the afro wasn't
not sure about the singer of calories. should consider becoming a comedian but no more singing please. missed 4 or 5 magicians.
when singing along, or hit myself in the jaw or something as i woke up in the middle of the night with my tongue feeling like it was swelled up and its felt too big for my mouth all day and its sore and hurts when i eat and i dotn like it :'(
thermals were awesome, thanks for organising again guntrip x
did frank turner not play?
That's what ruined my jaw. The moshing rockstar bastard.
if you're talking about the dan i think you're talking about, i dont think he weas near me when i was jumping up and down.
im genuinely baffled.
that was supporting gaslight anthem on sunday.
This was excellent, thermals are amazing
I know what you mean about the tinnitus. I could hear barely anything in my lecture today.
Also, really enjoyed 4 or 5 magicians
its often quite hard to judge whether people are enjoying it or not, but then the applause sounded oddly half-hearted for every band at the show, not just us, bit weird. Maybe everyone still had their gloves on!
Anyway, hope people enjoyed our set. Must improve my between song banter though!
but I would have felt pretty stupid if it stayed, being that I actually had earplugs and managed to cloak them by accident. I wondered if the ringing in my ear was more from Daniel screaming about Nirvana covers than from the music...
Great gig, more people should have been moving up front though. None of these Monday night excuses!
