What a nice surprise to wake up to :D
It's getting a hell of a lot of love on their Lastfm profile, but I'm abstaining until its official release.
I never thought I was a huge fan of until I realised I'd seen every one of their London shows since 2002!
aye, been to all of them except the last one, and when they played the betsey trottwood, which was heart wrenching to miss! Best show has been the one at the ICA, the quietest audience I've ever witnessed...!
What is the new album sounding like? Any surprises or more of the same, in a good way?
Massive and epic CRY! I'm hurting badly for not going to that :(
that have been doing the rounds for a while are a bit disappointing.
I've got this new album on its third spin and its already sounding like one of the albums of 09, its astonishingly beautiful. It deserves all the praise its getting on last.fm frankly.
I can't get over how orchestral it is. The subtle, beautiful guitar lines of old seem to have been replaced with thick overbearing strings that drown out one of the most powerful elements of their sound.
My first impression is certainly one of disapointment.
The closing song is immense though.
but 'You Are There' is soooooooooo much better
listened to this and really enjoying it. Been doing a lot of thinking around the subject of post rock recently, especially regarding journalism and the difficulties of reviewing it. If anyones interested I did a big blog post on it here...
much more subletly and movement, instead of just quiet/loud.
Battle At Sea in particular is spectacular
