Grammatics album

CasiotoneForJoe [Edit] [Delete] 28 replies 13:22, 26 January '09

i just recieved my copy to review yesterday. Absolute masterpiece. The new recordings of broken wing and relentless fours are truly amazing. The perfect 'big headphones in the dark' music.

  • I'm one of the lucky few to have a copy of this also...

Truthfully one fo the best albums i have heard in a long time. I agree that it is a masterpiece.

So much variation, and just finally something that is uncomparable in my eyes.

A wonderful record, and they deserve every success that im sure they will get.

  • it is fantastic

really brilliant. the only reason i'm not obsessing over it to an absurd extent is because i already played 3/4 of the album to death when they were released on singles/myspace/samplers. fantastic to have a band about to break through with genuine song writing chops as WELL as great sonic exploration. some of the sounds on this record are absolutely lush and must have taken a long time to nail.

  • Err...

...not that DIS should be used as a platform to encourage illegal downloading (God forbid), but I sure as hell wish I knew where you'd got this from. I've checked everywhere for a download - I've been waiting about twelve months to hear what these promising youngsters would come out with. It's a sad state we've come to when you can't commit a crime without some hassle.

  • No illegal downloading on my part.

It's nice having friends in ace bands!

  • I found the leak

and whilst i do feel some pangs of guilt, i had every intention of purchasing it anyway, but now it is a dead cert, its bloody fantastic.
Relentless Fours in particular is amazing.

  • I don't say this about many albums, but...

This record is completely fucking astounding. I've pretty much sat through the entire album with goosebumps from the outset. And the production is among the best i've ever heard put to record.

  • now acquiring

d.i.l.e.m.m.a.: sounds the same as the single version i purchased not so long ago; perhaps remastered a bit. ace as ever

      • interesting (track by track 3)

murderer; first new one, not quite as much an impact as hearing the other songs for the first time, but still good. great production, hopefully it is consistent throughout.

        • (track by track 4)

the vague archive; same as the single version.

  • when is this actually released

from my limited listening experience of Grammatics i'm eager to purchase this

    foxybox | 26 Jan '09, 20:58 | X

      .

  • If this album doesn't get 10/10 I don't know what will

It's fucking incredible. I feel a bit shitty about getting hold of it so early but I couldn't wait another 6 weeks, and I've always intended on at least buying it on CD anyway, maybe even vynil.

    badmanreturns | 27 Jan '09, 14:10 | X
    • Also, I love the subtle changes to the singles/b-sides

Like the added drums at around 2.20 in Polar Swelling, shows they've put a lot of effort into making sure the record is as good as it can possibly be.

Also, I just bought a t-shirt to make myself feel a little less guilty about not waiting.
