I think this blogger talking a lot of sense actually.
the chorus of her new song is properly aces... the production is lovely.
about her being more of a celebrity than an artist. That's why I can't take her seriously when she slags off, say, Radiohead. At least Radiohead make innovative music people can relate to, rather than just whining about how hard it is being famous a la The Fear.
the point is that she's more of a person than a celebrity than an artist sort of thing... obviously all that blog stuff has been made a big deal of and used by her marketing people so i suppose you've got a right to be irritated by it but is she doing owt that different to how everyone else acts?
but i partly agree. she makes a fair point about the likes of nuttini and morrison.
i get more wound up by lily allen's 'i'm, like, well fackin' normal, me' vocal/lyrical approach than the fact that she mouths off a bit - she's a lot more privileged than most, and her cockney accent makes about as much sense as squigglehead from the kooks' absurd liverpool twang.
i don't mind her music and she seems like a nice enough girl, and she's as entitled to an opinion as anyone else - at least she does it with more articulacy than katy perry.
La Allen bitching about having to promote her music 'because it's someone else who makes all the money'. How about promoting it because you think it's good and you want people to hear it?
And I read in some crappy music rag this week that she's just bought a beach with a house somewhere hot and exotic.
but he writes like a twat. I'm coming round to the fact that actually, Lily Allen writes quite good songs, and I am really enjoying The Fear. She is very gobby though, and if she releases a few duff records in the future, she won't be allowed to forget some of her more ill-judged outbursts.
she's quite astoundingly bad
the way she's all 'Oh hello I'm Lily Allen, such a pleasant little flower am I' in interviews with her ridiculously posh accent and in her songs it's all "geezah! bruv yeah, I'm shoppin' in Wilkinsons for a pack of Bic one blades"
She really has turned into quite the dozy media whore. I would have a little bit more respect for her if she didn't come out with such big bags of shit about a range of stuff from Catholicism to coke.
You don't see Adele out shoving it at the opening of an envelope, same goes for Duffy and even estelle. I think Ms Allen feels that she has to somehow live up to her surname by having an ever open gob spewing controversial opinions. Trouble is, her dad's an intelligent man with a very sharp wit. His daughter is just an attention seeking bellpiece.
And it's not sexism, look at Kanye West. Always opening his fucking trap about anything and everything and he's pretty soundly slagged off on that front in the press.
What an awful style in which to write. He's clearly a Brit as he references UK culture a lot in the various articles, but why does he write as a Texan would phonetically drawl? Uuurgh.
Anyway, fuck Lily Allen. Her music's okay but she's clearly a spiteful hypocritical cow - it's not sexist to dislike people saying horrible things that could quite easily be applied to themselves.
Also I feel quite justified in hating her because she's an overprivileged individual who has got where she is through her contacts and Daddy pulling strings. Okay, she has a modicum of talent but that's by the by - there are a couple of people that I know at work who are reasonably talented but have risen to a place they otherwise wouldn't have been through nepotism and contacts.
Erm... Examples please. I can't see what you mean.
Even though we're in 2009, there's still a lot of 1953 thinkin'. Girls aren't supposed to get drunk. Girls aren't supposed to be promiscuous. Girls aren't supposed to slag off ex-boyfriends in record (unless it's Joni Mitchell of course). Girls aren't supposed to moan. Girls aren't supposed to be frank and open. Unless, of course, it's your girlfriend who does it about work or whatever. Then it's fine because, like, er, y'know... she's like, totally cool.
SHUT UP YOU MORON
As for the ex-boyfriends thing, I have only one thing to say: Back to Black.
A brilliant album, no matter what you think about Ms Winehouse apparently all about the wrongdoing Blake Fielder Civil did to their relationship.
Girls aren't supposed to get drunk.
Tell that to National Hero Sarah Harding
Girls aren't supposed to be frank and open.
Balls. Just balls.
I don't like her music, but then I hardly like anyone's music.
She says a few stupid things, but so do most people.
Anyone who thinks sexism is over needs a head check.
"Pretty much every time I hear someone slaggin' Lily Allen, it's never about her music."
Why would anyone talk about her music?
