being kicked in the testicles > eating cake
but I can maybe see why you'd say that...
Says Curtis hanging himself was the best thing that ever happened to the band.
New Order are a bit ace, I think. JD... shades of brilliance.
I think the former is a bit wallowsome and the latter incarnation uplifting.
So the correct answer is MONACO > Electronic, kthxs
are three of the greatest songs ever. But then again they did produce alot of guff.
i like this one
But Joy Division have a bit more filth 'n' fury, y'know?
are better imo purely on the basis of Dreams Never End and Age of Consent being my 2 favourite songs ever pretty much
But now I'm not so sure. I would say that the heights New Order reached were greater than those of Joy Division (Blue Monday, True Faith etc), but I prefer Joy Division's coldness and sparseness to New Order's dancey but sometimes terrible-sounding synth sound.
Plus New Order's lyrics are total gash.
all the way for me, I've never really got into New Order apart from the odd track here and there. But I love all the Joy Division stuff I've heard. I just like it cold and gloomy I guess.
Gave that fact away my friend
they often seem to get a lot of stick on here. I love some NO songs, especially Blue Monday, but they also did a few rubbish ones, and Barney's lyrics are generally pretty bad. I still come down in the JD camp though, because they had better lyrics and were tighter, darker and more intense. Also they weight of myth is impossible to discount from any discussions such as this, JD ended dramatically at the peak of their short career, where as NO turned into a soap opera.
Joy Division were a seminal and ultimately amazing band fronted by one of the most charismatic and legendary frontmen of all time. New Order are a frankly average band with a frontman that simply cannot sing, without the platform created for them by Joy Division and the noteriety of Ian Curtis' death, I doubt they would've reached such great heights
You said 'semen'
The only person really influenced by his Frontmanship may be Thom Yorke's dancing in Idioteque, where he just LOOKS like he is having a seizure on stage.
both good though.
Is better than any Joy Division album. (I never much cared for Republic, and their modern stuff is nothing spectacular.) They are, on the whole, a far better band than they were as Joy Division, and probably more influential as well.
A playlist of JD's finest moments is very good indeed.
A playlist of NO's finest moments is very good indeed and doesn't make me want to kill myself, and talks to me much more directly and succinctly.
Joy Division is an amazing band, and it's best tracks equal that of New Order's best, but the fact is their albums are probably equal, but New Order has MORE, and they are so much nicer to listen to.
joss ucklands spunky back pack
new order hav about five good songs....
joy division are better ...its a no brainer
(joy division are my favourite band so i am slightly biased)
though i find some NO songs to be embarassingly bad,
when they get it right they are bloody excellent.
Procession = yum
