I'd say the one in The View's new song is very high on my list
every single one
Posted at exactly the same time too...
I opened your one instead of Yesiamaduck's.
you know that?
You are the winner.
It's so poor I wonder is he being ironic.
the crowd seemed to love it.....maybe thats saying something about Limp Bizkit fans...maybe....
the crowd are fucking stupid + it appears to be a festival so are probably too fucked to care
and the guitar solo is as absolutely wretched as the video is a must see.
Enjoy: (guitar solo at 2:30) http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=w1FeEezee4s
it ticks all the boxes-
From the 80's
Operatic whammy bar action
Contained within a ballad
I think it's the tone that puts the tin hat on it, as you so rightly identified.
are crap, even though that's what they're famous for
what basis do you have for this outlandish comment?
Black and White Town by Doves. Really impressive "WTF?!" moment.
Maybe not the worst ever, but I think the solo on Violet Hill(?) by Coldplay is codshite - makes my blood boil every time it invades ear-space.
i've never noticed quite how bad that tone is :) :)
You must be high on northern crack. Fairly discrete? Discrete is the last thing that solo is. It barges in like a drunken hobo (which is probably who recorded it), totally ignoring the synchopated 'stomp' of the drums, piano and rhythm guitar and with a guitar tone that I'm being generous in describing as 'straight ass'. I still remember stopping dead in the middle of the street in utter shock at hearing it.
...where Rivers decides to replicate the vocal melody for every single fucking song.
He's just so cheesy and objectionable.
the solo on Neil Young's "Southern Man"
Although, I do like playing over it and making it a little swishier and dexterous.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
and he said he loved the fact that they finally had a solo in one of thier tunes everyone could play air guitar too...i hadnt heard the tune so was interested to see what theyd done......it was gash...i think he must of mistook the crowd doing variations of the wanker sign as 'his fans rockin out'
So coked up and terrible that it's funny.
props for an extremely out of tune guitar
It's the most pointless solo. It just shouldn't be there.
I knew nothing about this. I hope Clapton watches that and his bowels collapse.
He absolutely blows everyone else off the stage. Legend. He knows it as well which somehow makes it even better.
Weezer-Green album..littered with them, they just follow the tune of the song, dreadful.
I quite like the band, but the guitar solo's are always laughably bad.
I don't have enough of their records to say that.
Simplistic sure, but almost always great tone.
Even In His Youth - worst guitar solo ever. Good song, mind.
cant remember which. it pissed a lot of smiths fans off at the time though...
I think it was meant to be a bit of a pisstake.
It's so ridiculously Brian May-ish and SO un Marr at the same time.
Also I think the solo in 'Audience With The Pope' by Elbow is remarkably crap - it sounds like someone who has never played guitar before has been asked to play the melody after only hearing the song once.
The guitar solo in Shoot The Runner by Kasabibum
but then i remembered this gem:
Madonna - Hung up (live)
thats not a guitar solo
That definately wins hands down!
especially when it returns for a second time
There is none worse.
amazing up until it kicks in
Oasis - Supersonic
Oasis - Live Forever
I am so very fed up of Led Zeppelin type solos... especially in their live recordings. They are not there for the enjoyment of the song, just so Jimmy Page can show people he is generally great at guitar! A lot of the time the band will completely stop while Page just squeels on his guitar whilst we wait for the rest of the band to be allowed to join back in again... "Heartbreaker" is a great example of this...and the solos are longer live! :(
The solo in "I Wanna Be Sedated" by The Ramones is just one note repeated over and over. Techincally it is very poor, but it sounds great. Very simple but effective.
The over-the-top solo is dying out for a reason!
little honda by yo la tengo. it's great.
am i right in thinking it's a beach boys cover?
that the solo from 'you shook me' on the bbc sessions is one of the best i've ever heard
...yep. It is indeed a Beach Boys song off the All Summer Long Album, 1964. Their sixth studio album...that is the wikipedia inside of me talking. :)
