If you want a look:
New album is pretty good mesays... and I wasn't too won by the previous one. OK I was a bit.
Yes, The Crying Light is great. Nicely varied. Not seeing what all the fuss is about with Aeon though, it kinda infuriates me. Kiss My Name is where it's at
But when bona-fide star (these days) asks if you've got enough, you don't say: "No, sit there, still, and answer these questions..."
As it played out he was very nice. We chatted a little after the tape stopped - I mentioned that the wife and I had 'Dull Flame Of Desire' played during our ceremony (while signing, immediately after vows), and he seemed really pleased, saying that's really lovely.
But yeah - working online you often get ten minutes when magazine counterparts will get 30mins to an hour.
Any interview is better than no interview, especially when the questions aren't "Do you think you'll be nominated for the Mercury again?"
I hope this album gets the recognition it deserves, though.
There was a great interview with him in The Wire magazine a month or so ago. There's so many layers to that man, it's always a joy to read about him.
Yeah, i agree, he's a very interesting interviewee. His stage banter is great, too :)
I'm yet to see him live. I'm tempted to go see him in either Brighton or London but don't know how soon I'll be able to get tickets. I'll pick up the album this weekend (it's isn't it) and see what I think, and then decide.
If you go to an independent record store they might sell it before release date. It's amazing (judging on 6th listen). I'd love to see him again, but £25 + travel to Edinburgh + booking fees will take it to £37, which is a bit hefty for my liking. If you can afford it, he's def. worth seeing though
I might go to the Bristol date and make a long weekend/'holiday' of it.
