Best converge album please.
the latest one 'No Heroes' is also superb and I would probably rate it above Jane Doe in terms of raw aggression (for the first half anyway). So yeah - best album = Jane Doe; best for getting annoyed to I'd probably say = no heroes.
Doesn't get much of a look-in when people are naming favourites but it's got some of their best stuff on it. I much prefer Jane Doe/YFM/No Heroes to the old stuff.
but it doesn't 'hold together' as well as the other two in my opinion.
but Petitioning The Empty Sky has Saddest Day on it which is the best thing for just being really mad too
the remix somehow makes it more hardcore, it's awesome.
also - i've put the converge dvd on my blockbuster rental list. Is it good?
Bit much all in one go as the quality varies wildly from show to show. Some great stuff in it though.
Their debut album was produced by Kurt Ballou and it's seriously awesome.
*puts on list*
Jane Doe > YFM > No Heroes > Petitioning
'Jesus Chris Bobby' by Mínus instead please?
An incredibly underrated album. Full on intensity set to RAAAAGE.
But yeah, Jane Doe or You Fail Me.
but this post is a hatful of fail imo
I was saying they're good pissed off music. But You Fail Me or Jane Done are the best Converge records.
but no heroes is also incredible
however, i also think the first album by every time i die is pretty good
also, the first daughters album
and unsurprisingly the result of the thread was Jane Doe by quite some distance. I need more Converge now, so this thread has been useful in terms of where to go next. I was thinking of 'Petitioning The Empty Sky' or 'No Heroes' next, although You Fail Me also seems highly thought of.
What are the differences between the albums? That might be more useful than simply, "which one is best?"
YFM has shorter harsher songs than petitioning, but No Heroes has a bit of both.
Petitioning has dated a bit now i think but as someone above said it has Saddest Day on it, and thats possibly one of my favourites.
If I was you now, I would go for No heroes, then You Fail Me and then Petitioning.
..in terms of where to go next. Their albums are usually pretty cheap on Amazon.. argh so tempting. I'm not supposed to buying albums at the moment :(
Thanks for the response, I always hijack other threads that aren't mine, with questions of my own.
most of the time they're £5 each on Amazon but Play is always another option if they happen to become more expensive.
There is a deluxe edition of Petitioning somewhere as well, which I'd forgotten about but is worth a purchase, well, less a deluxe, more a re-release.
