Parallax Error Beheads You

doctornovocalcords [Edit] [Delete] 18 replies 15:40, 13 January '09

How good is this album? Very very good.
It's taken a lot of listens but now it is falling into place for me so so much. Every time I listen I hear something new, and some amazing meldoy rears its head.
Current favourite = Until We Die. The Yes influence comes out very strongly.
I hope some people vote for him to play ATP.

  • I got his first album recently

excellent stuff indeed. Glad that the new one's good too, might have to check it out.

    • it's much better IMO

each one has got better and better. Makes me feel slighly sad though, in terms of highlighting how lacking in ideas and talent most successful musicians are.

      • Really?!

Excellent. I liked Lights and Lysine, but wasn't sure if it was worth getting the rest of the second album, but think i might get that too now.

  • My favourite Max Tundra album yet

A lot more poppy than 'Some Best Friend You Turned Out To Be' and 'Mastered By Guy At The Exhange' but still retains the ADHD-esque madness that's consistent across all of his releases. If anyone's about in London on Friday 30th January, Max Tundra is playing a free gig at Cargo...I think it's Cargo anyway.

    • yeah it is

    rossiterandy | 13 Jan '09, 16:13 | X
    • I'm in Brighton that weekend

But alas, I'm at a wedding/reception that day/night. I was contemplating sneaking out...

      • well, I guess he'll be on from about 9.45 - 10.45pm

I'm sure you can have a repeat of the dodgy prawn starter or something at that time!!

  • saw him at supersonic

was bored, and not charmed by him. However, his records have reviewed very well (by Pitchfork, so taken with a dose of salt). Am I missing something?

    • yes

I can't think of many musicians who have such a warm and amusing stage presence as him.

      doctornovocalcords @irritatedstate | 13 Jan '09, 16:41 | X
      • He's like that off stage too

He was leading the conga line during Pinch's DJ set at Corsica Studios once :D

        • yeah he's great

          nicest man in music.

  • I love 'Which Song' so much

I've liked Max Tundra for ages. Theres a really brilliant weird little song he did on David Shrigleys Worried Noodles album called A Truce which is totally ace.

  • It's very good

but I'm not sure if I like it as much as Mastered By Guy At The Exchange

  • Did anyone try his chicken soup?

I feel a bit guilty for not buying into such a charmingly barmy idea.
