How queer of him. Anyone else?
Nope. Not me. Morrissey's solo stuff is good in places but compared to The Smiths output it's lacking alot.
Fast work jas
i have the moves, and the groooves, gotta work the suits.
As I was headed to Leigh-on-Sea
I met a man who liked Morrissey
He preferred him solo to the Smiths
And really admired his lyrical pith
I did not agree with his musical view
I thought to beat it out of the fool - and I did too!
I met a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
And he likes Morrissey more than the Smiths
Who liked Morrissey more than the Smiths
He was so absurd
That he claimed he preferred
Boz’s strumming to Johnny Marr’s riffs
Who disliked the Smiths and adored Morrissey
When asked why this was
She said 'It's because
Johnny Marr and his guitar, I abhor-isey'
But that is a a very silly thing to say. He did make 'Kill Uncle' after all. *shudders instinctively*
the new albums though is pretty solid stuff
Just the way he sings 'skull' makes me :D. The thing I find about Morrissey's solo output, especially these last three albums since the 'return', is that I might not absolutely love them in the same way I do The Smiths, but I can always put them on and know I'm going to enjoy listening to it... I think the word I'm looking for is 'solid'.
Then there is a lot to get out of his solo work. Not many other artists take singing as seriously as the Moz does. The new album has lots of lovely touches where he's just revelling in what he can do with his voice.
I think the more extreme, or hardcore, Morrissey fans prefer the solo stuff to be honest.
...not sure this is the right time or place to bring this up
on the channel 4 the other day. thought it was prettty pretty dull. i'm a fan of his earlier solo stuff, but his recent stuff is just like he's got some 'morrissey song machine' that produces all his songs.
