Definitely my favourite nick cave album, although the consensus seems to be that the majority like let love in the most?
Is my fav, but boatmans call is as good. Both amazing albums.
ranks pretty highly in my favs too. Beautiful album.
in that the lyrics are so raw and explicit....like what oscar wilde said about no good poetry coming from true emotion....or something like that....anyone know what i mean?
swings and roundabouts innit?
i think the lyrics something like "twinkling cunt".
probably my faveourite nick cave song
but it's not really a Nick Cave song, 'cause Blixa wrote the music and Anita Lane did the lyrics.
My favourite is Loverman.
but there's a certain je ne sais quoi that stops me liking it that much. I guess it's maybe a bit too maudlin and weepy for me. I always lean towards his more blood drenched, Old Testament referencing work though.
My personal favourite Nick Cave album is Tender Prey and think it could and should be seen as the album that is most "him", nahmean? To me it epitomises everything about Nick Cave. After that, it's probably Let Love In, because it's dead good and "accessible" and stuff.
when he's not a pussy
there's something about the overall style of the album that makes it hang together really well, so that otherwise average songs like There Is A Kingdom work better.
Having done this thread a million times the general consensus seems to be that the albums are too diverse to pick an overall favourite, everyone always ends up grouping them into categories. And then saying Nocturama is shit.
But The First Born Is Dead is probably my favourite cause it was the first Cave Lp I'd listened to, and if there's a better album opener than Tupelo well I ain't heard it yet
