Anyone looking forward to this? Sitek is producing.
heard it yet, where did you hear it, cos I know it isn't out here yet.
26th, not long to wait I suppose, I can buy this with my loan.
I read this earlyer, I have only heard the myspace so far and I wasn't to enthused about it but maybe the album is better as a whole.
Its solid, but nothing really sticks out. I'm also a little disappointed with the production - Sitek is pretty much on auto here (that or they couldn't afford to pay for enough studio he could do something special). Hopefully it'll grow on me.
only really seems to produce the goods with his own band though, I've never seen him do something really special with another band. He seems to sap all the energy out of them, its a real shame as in pleanty of other ways he has a really good ear.
Am I wrong? I can't think of any good Sitek productions other than Dear, Science.
I feel he made a mess of the Foals album, as we all know. I mean the yeah yeah yeahs albums sound great, but there's nothing really distinctive about the production, same applies for the Liars album he produced.
I had a feeling that it wasn't just me.
I mean he does have some ace ideas but I dont think he has the skills in the studio yet, one day maybe.
Does he get comisioned beacuse he is like so hip right now or something?
Scarlett Johansson and everything :/ Haven't heard anything from that album.
I think he trys to do to much in the studio. His style is really polished and shiney when I dont think he really has the skills to pull it off. Maybe anyway, I'm not sure, he just sounds a bit weak.
So we don't know what that sounds like exactly?
I think its a time thing; he gets to spend more time on TVOTR because quite a lot of the time its just him and a few select musicians that vary from track to track. When its a band, they probably just decamp to his studio for a while.
has production credits though, right?
they say thanks in the liner notes but its crossed out and it doesn't credit a producer anywhere.
It doesn't realy bode well for the producer if the band scrapped it and did it themselves with no reall experiance of doing such a big record.
I think he is just a young kinda producer and is still learning his trade at it a bit.
then complained he made it sound really weird and, to paraphrase, "like it was recorded in the grand canyon", which begs the question why did they choose him?
but Foals should be asked why sometime when they are trying to do press for their next album heheh
I like it a lot.
First time listening tonight and it's sounding pretty good. Nice and bassy.
Just re listening now, still great.
But I am intrigued for their next album.
Also looking forward seeing what they come up with.
