There is nothing wrong or left to be desired. It just is.
Not 'Shake it like a Polaroid picture' and I've nto like if so much since I realised the truth
it's not as good as the song Bombs Over Baghdad
put em on a par
they do hiphoppop so very well plus they can go all hardcore when they need to. Brilliant track.
But yeah, it's incredible
ever penned, no, nothing
Replacing "I'm sorry Ms. Jackson" with "Osama Bin Laden" which fits perfectly.
There, I've gone and ruined it now.
or however you spell it
Reminds me of some very good times.
mega swoon for the golden puppy on the keys.
breeds dogs, I think I heard him talk about it in an interview ages ago.
my ex just got a super cute puppy, it looks like a wolf I can't think of the name of it. But it's really huge for a puppy, it's going to take over when it's fully grown.
*I'll take my dog talk off the music board tho... in case a lynch mob comes after me..
there should be more dog talk on the music board it might liven it up a bit
see social board :D
they are actually writing songs in the real sense - which for me puts them way above most other hip-hop/rap acts.
That is right, isn't it? Or am I living in a fantasy land and about to have my castles blown down?
might have to rethink your rockism there.
I guess they're not as talented as I'd hoped they were.
I'm even more disappointed now. They're good rappers but musically all they have is a good ear for other people's talents.
I wish I didn't know this.
Wrightylew's comments about black music going down the toilet over the years is echoing in my ears right now.
why it should bother you.
They're still as good as they were before you knew this. And you had to be told somehow.
hiphop outfit because they were writing their own material and were therefore more talented.
That has changed a bit now.
Other bits, and notably the 'hooks' they steal from 70s acts.
I can see a pretty big distinction there.
its always been people rapping over other peoples music. Get the hooks, get the breaks and do your thing on top.
it's just a funny reason to dislike rap i think. Hate it for the misogyny and violence sure. But for sampling stuff? There isn't a single art form in the world that doesn't appropriate somebody else's work.
playing a sample well is just as musical as playing a chord on a guitar. When done well it's wicked and you wouldn't even notice it's not original, they arn't trying to trick you either they will credit the original work. Bands have been ripping off the same 3 chords and even riffs for years and years but no-one gets at them, it's pretty much the same thing.
Give them some credit.
bloody ace at it as they at sampeling.
I love them again, actually. I am disappointed because I thought they were more talented than they are but I'm putting it to the back of my mind.
BOB is fucking awesome.
where ash beat janet jackson to number 1 in the album charts, and a drunken rick mcmurray rang up her record label and left an impromptu version of 'ms jackson' on the answering machine?
This is one of my favourite songs of all time.
It suffers from the flaw that most modern pop music suffers from today: lack of blastbeats.
but BOB is bettttttter :)
absolutely nothing remarkable about it whatsoever. It's ok I guess.
but I'd say Hey Ya was a more 'perfect' song, in the context of this discussion.
its a near perfect pop song.
top five Outkast then:
3. Ghetto Muzik
4. I'll Call Before I Come
5. She Lives In My Lap
i do own stuff from before Stankonia, i've just never really got that into it.
You're right, the song is near perfection. Stankonia is the best thing Outkast have ever released.
in fact, almost all their singles are great, which makes me wonder why I've never listened to an Outkast album.
