...not as well as I had hoped, but I thought some of you might like to watch:
and your generator one. your kit is nice too. good job.
surely i must of met you, i remember your name from the elle forums.... strange!
Matt? With glasses?
Ah, profile photo says 'yes'.
I have spoken to you in the past. I tried to speak to you at the Boileroom a while ago... BLANKED. You were in Psirens, right?
sorry! i can be an arse/i dont pay much attention!
I noticed you missed some double snare hits throughout the song, instead you just repeated the same rhythym... is that just poor audio or me being silly?
I'm a massive National fan though, their drummer is exceptional. Really well done with the vid! Anyone recommend some more brooding, lyrically genius, rhythmically and melodically interesting albums? Boxer, for me, is the greatest album ever.
That would be down to my playing. I think it's a really hard song to play. I'd played it through a few times before that take but as with all my videos there are still mistakes. My timing is off but I can't ever be bothered to record over and over, especially when using two cameras, there are also other boring and pedantic technical reasons I can't record for a very long time.
The sound isn't great because I haven't played with my mics much yet but also because Brainy is played on the toms most of the time so that's why it sounds a bit 'mushy', I guess.
I didn't mean to slag your playing in any way, I could never come anywhere near that standard! Just wondering aloud. What you gonna do next? I reckon Apartment Story or Mistaken for Strangers are good shouts :)
Errrm, I always get stuck when it comes to thinking what to record next. I do like playing Secret Meeting more than those two, to be honest, so maybe that. Obviously, I have to be very familiar with the stuff I choose to record because I forget songs easily and even more easily as soon as the cameras are on.
I was actually thinking about playing some Sting soon, but it will take a lot of practice before I think about recording.
The National songs always sound incredibly daunting to drum along to; they patterns are so intricate and I reckon I would shy away even if I was a good, experienced drummer. Excellent work Mr. 'Theweed!
Thank you. I've just watched some live versions of Brainy on YouTube and it looks like I'm playing it a bit wrong, I'm probably making it harder to play. Ah well. Creativity, innit.
but some good drumming there fella. I'm also guessing that's a Sonor kit, am I right?
Nooo, it's a Gretsch New Classic.
