Listening to their myspace.
they were nice people, played a pretty straightforward set though. personally thought they'd missed the boat on getting big off that kind of sound. then again that was at least two years ago (if not longer) and i saw recently that the nme tipped them for this year, so maybe they've shaked up their sound a bit. listening to the first song on their myspace its way noisier than there were, when i played with them they were a pretty straightforward maximo park/interpol pastiche
The picture in NME makes them look like Chumbawumba. Not heard them though...
Lovely people and an excellent band. They sound a bit like a cross between Sonic Youth and Joy Division, it's definitely punky noise rock. For some reason, the NME keep mentioning MSP though.
Good men, excellent live.
last year, in Durham. Very nice guys. Way, way better live than on record in my opinion.
They've worked damn hard to get where they are, gigging non-stop, and doing things like gigging midweek in London and then driving back the same night to Middlesboro where they live.
Lovely guys and really good live. They manage to get the noise thing in there without expending with tunes. They deserve success.
And, as mentioned above, the hardest working band in show biz. Excellent live and getting noisier and angrier all the time.
Saw them a few times when I lived in Middlesbrough, and they did that interpol thing as someone higher up said. Pretty good.
Saw them at offset and they'd turned into this noisy beast of a band. It'd be nice to see them get a bit of success as well.
seem very good. Sound of the Radio reminds me of the Maccabees slightly. Elsewhere it is very good...can't pin down where I'd put them though in my genreometer.
in Durham (if i remember correctly) and they were normal north-eastern post punkish, but saw them a few months ago and they were actually really really good. A lot different in sound, much more aggressive as said many times above, and they could actually become quite successful in the near future i feel.
Is that here you reckon?
I don't really like this band personally.
He looks haunted.
@ the brixton windmill.
it was awesome.
in the second song. the bassist pushed the singer through the pa.
they blew up all the electrics.
and it was just the drummer playing.
then they had to drive all the way back to 'boro..
'cause my friend's band's supporting. They sound alright I suppose, not too amazed by them...I hope they live up to their live reputation.
Love the chapman family. A live gig is currently being played out on XFM as I type...tune in. They're twice the band they were a while back. Used to be absolutely tepid. I love them now though.
as my band supported them last year in Newcastle.
Good live. Not so good on record. Didn't think that they were particularly nice, although the drummer was a totally lovely guy.
I love JK and respect him, but could only stand 2 songs. Maybe I wasn't in the mood?
they're pretty dull
really nice guys. They even invited us to play a gig with them in Stockton, which was the strangest gig I have ever, ever played (15 year old girls stole my bus pass and tried to get served with it..)
They've worked very hard and are lovely, so I don't want to say anything against them really but... not a fan. These days they're not melodic enough for pop fans yet not noisy enough for fans of noisy music..
