Anyone know of any really good dubstep artists?
iv got a bit of rusko but iv told there are better artists out there
p.s. i think i like Pinch the best.
new album on the way this year I think...
I heard a track last night on the radio called
The Giant Sowing Spiders From Space
or something like that and it's awsome, he's always making tracks though so Idunno if that will be on the album or it will be more vocalists and stuff again.
when DJ Defcore accidentally played a jungle 12" at 33 instead of 45 and decided to do a mini LP at 140BPM with lots of sub
I thought it was a D'n'B / breakbeat / garage hybrid in about 2000 ish that did it?
but I pulled out a DJ Defcore promo the other day that I hadn't listened to in about 12 years and about 45 seconds in I thought 'fucking hell - this is dubstep' and I had to check I wasn't playing it at the wrong speed. It was supposed to be 33 and I had it right so
this is my new theory
alot of people say it's just slowed down drum n bass it winds up the dubstepforum lot as it's been said so much.
It's not to much diffrent realy there share so much common ground, esspecialy the early jungle and d'n'b as that was slower than d'n'b is now-a-days.
I'm really not keen on Rusko unless it's like one track and I'm really drunk in a club.
If you enjoy that kind of jump up hype sort of stuff I would go for...
Raffertie (He is on radio one tonight on Marry Anne Hobbs)
all make a mad grimey, new skool g-funk dubstep hybrid and its awsome
are more my kind of thing they make the more techno infused rolling stuff.
has alot about dubstep on it, including mixes I've done and even some tracks and albums people have been giving away. Plus reviews / interviews of people.
Blackdown is better though...
and also one for electro/techno. just a sticky thread of dance music recomendations, it comes up so often.
if you like rusko you'll probably also like: coki, skream, the others, caspa, distance, benga, chase and status' dubstep stuff (eastern jam, smash tv, saxon), reso (he's my favourite for straight up huge wobbly bass stuff, check out "if ya can't beat em")
if you wanna go a little more out there: the bug, kode9, shackleton, zomby, ikonika, rustie, hudson mohawke, boxcutter, vex'd, joker, appleblim. stuff on hyperdub/skull disco tends to be good.
www.dubstepforum.com is where it all goes down
jimi got there between my reading and posting
its fixed and everything
millionair started a gide to global bass thread as well but it was usualy just me him and the odd other person joining in with it.
So I just go on a renagade 0 reply thread making mission when new interesting stuff happens now heheh
He's playing my local dubstep night. I can't say I'm into what I've heard. The samples he uses are so fucking cheesy.
but I'm not really a fan of hearing his kind of stuff all night anyway. I like it to be mixed up a bit more and varried. It could be fun if you want some bass abuse and wana get drunk, who else is on?
his stuff's made for dancefloors, he's a bit one track but he'll kill live. it'll just be huge n heavy, lots of fun. doesn't always have to be chin-strokey i say
but then in my experiance dubstep isn't very chin strokey when its in a club.
He started off making crazy breakcore stuff but has made a dramatic shift to dubstep, and does it really fucking well. He released a track on Hyberdub November last year, although I'm yet to hear it.
by Quarta 330... yep I just checked
Its wicked I got it the other week he has some really good tracks coming out soon and I'm eyeing up his last one on Lo-Dubs.
Haha...I need to get my hands on that, all I have by Cardopusher is a Double S remix and one of his older, more insane albums.
I was a remix yeah but he told me to shut up stop messing around and take off that hat...
They'll have to do something pretty special to out-do the bass at the Rephlex nights at the same venue though. I'm sure at the last one they were trying to bring the place down.
I really like that label I bet it was brilliant.
I went to a birthday party down in falmouth last year, amazing audio and visual setups with some great bass heavy music. Fun times.
I mean Rephlex's birthday...
Planet Mµ records have put out some top dubstep records, check them out...http://www.planet-mu.com/
Has a 12" coming out sometime on Planet Mµ I heard last night, he is insane really really insane!
and the music was always excellent, but sadly weren't very well attended. They held them in the local rugby club which was a bit odd. I'm not sure whether they're going to do any more for a while.
I might try and nag them into doing one last one when the students are back in town...
he did an awsome mix
track list is on there I'm not sure the audio is around yet but it will apear no doubt soon.
my personal faves are;
chase & status
