I notice many of his albums are now only £2.99 on play so any ideas where I should start.
still my favourite. i liked 29 but from what i gather it isnt his best.
also cold roses is good for more folky things.
Start with these, then move on to the others if you like what you hear. Ryan hasn't bettered these three, but the rest are all fine albums too. Well, except maybe 'Rock n Roll' - but even that has it's moments.
and i think (dont shoot me) gold is really underrated, it might be more polished and grandiose but the songs are all really excellent, especially sylvia plath and wild flowers.
But really you could take your pick from 29, Demolition, Love Is Hell, Cold Roses - they're all great in my book.
Just realised that this probably doesn't help you much - ok, just go with Heartbreaker.
Love is Hell
also Strangers Almanac by Whiskeytown
love is hell
i would say just start with heartbreaker and go chronoligically. its pretty much all good!
gold is like ryan adams does classic rock with some amazing piano solo tunes..
cold roses / jacksonville cit nights is country rock
29 and love is hell is melancholy singer songwriter style sultry tunes.
Heartbreaker definitely the best record. :):)
