has anyone been to the festival? what's it like? worth it? it's looking like a serious line up for next year
I don't have time to justify this at the moment, but I've been the last two years and both times it's been amazing.
Look up the last few big Primavera threads for some reviews.
it was brilliant, and exceeded my expectations by a fair margin.
There are five stages and an auditorium. One of the stages (CD Drome) is entirely covered. The same roof also encloses an eating area provided with seats & tables. Good choice of food outlets and bars.
Tickets are required for the auditorium (hence people's references to queues). I did not go to the auditorium, and I only entered one queue in the entire festival - and that was to get a refund at the cash till on my excess bar tokens (I discovered that they are only valid the day of issue).
The Vice and ATP stages are detached from the main area by a bridge (Vice) and a walk ways (ATP).
I spent most of my time between the Vice, ATP & Cd Drome stages - so I ended up walking a fair bit. There are stone seats alongside the ATP stage - but it is advisable to take something to sit on as they get cold in the evening. Being almost entirely concreted your feet do get weary. There are grassy banks by the main stage and ATP stage.
The music started at around 19.10 each day and went on till 05.00 ish.
The people were generally cool, relaxed and friendly. It was noticeable that late on and especially on the Saturday a lot of day ticket holders arrive.
Yes, I've ordered my ticket for 2009. Prices go up in stages as the months pass.
at 6 pm on Thursday and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday
one day I will have to go I reckon
let's do it
I'm so damn skint but I might be able to work some stuff out by the time it coems round.
they're playing it this year
I would love to though it sounds like an ace show they put on.
but the noise levels were lower than expected: i didn't even need the earplugs i had with me. it was an almost spiritual experience for me, cos loveless is my favourite album of all time. but the lower decibel levels made me think i didn't get the whole 'holocaust' experience.
so me and kevin have some unfinished business, really
