studio - west coast
for £3 with free delivery...I am shocked.
PS it's rather immense
rough trade says this:
studio is the missing link between the cure and lindstrom touching on can, neu, happy mondays and the smiths in their creation of an afrobeat-dub-disco-indie-pop adventure. fifteen-minute opener 'out there' sets out their stall: dance-drone which fuses reggae licks, prog rock and 80s manchester icons the happy mondays and durutti column. 'life's a beach' is 13 minutes of twangy guitar and 80s style synths that ebb and flow with a hypnotic elegance that recalls balearic classic, 'e2-e4' by manuel gottsching. a clever, classy and cool album.
which is fairly spot on. It was also took up number 4 spot in their list of records in 2007.
apologies for grammatical incoherence at the end there.
any of those (esp E2-E4) sounds like something I should be listening to..
I am taking a flyer on it. You had better be right. :)
Wasn't tempted by anything.
Checked the Plastiscines album on Last.fm.
..if there are any hardcore My Morning Jacket fans about... Jim James' old band's record is there:
"come to think of it a perfect record for emptying your house just as the guests start to become unruly"
Perhaps this is worth investing in.
I think you've got an arm and earful right there.
Too noodly for me, but not quite in an early 90s ambient way.
i paid £12 for this about 2 months ago.
it is good though
album of new material is due next year apparently
...not long before I tell you whether you wasted £2.99 of my money that I'll never get back. :)
It's very floaty. Music for certain times/moods. Worth the £2.99.
Really amazing for nightbus journeys.
given it a couple of listens and i'm already a fan, and I can tell it's a grower too.
I doff my cap to you sir.
with a name like that.. you cant go wrong..
"Chain Gang Bound"
"Squalling Panther Blues"
"Slave Man Blues"
"No Woman No Nickel"
I think I might just buy this
.. that people like it.
Shame DiS appears not to work at home, just at work since that server thing.
This is what is occasionally great about DiS :)
